Denis has always gotten a lot of stick on here. Last night he delivered.
Time for everyone to put the water meter installations behind them and pay homage to a man who has brought a joy to a section of society that up to last night was unknown.
Rips the State off of hundred of millions (possibly billions), tries to silence the right of our elected officials to speak out and you deem it ok as he contributes about €1m per year to the running costs of the Republic of Ireland Association football team.
Honestly pal, you’ve been trying way too hard lately. Step away from the Internet and give it a rest for a day or two, you’re boring the arse off everyone.
You wanted O’Neill out a week ago
Im afraid this thread is not for buffoons like you its for people who understand how the world goes round, but thanks for your comments anyway.
Denis O’Brien is due a bit of respect now, last night wouldnt have happened without his philanthropic gesture and the ordinary decent eire soccer fans should show some respect.
You can imagine that sad fucker @HBV sitting there trying to put a negative spin on last night and this is the best he can come up with. He’s pitiable.
DOB is directly responsible for last night. That’s a positive. If you can only see it as a negative then you have more issues than i thought. Without DOBs generosity i doubt Paul Jewel would have led these players to the last 16 of euro 2016.
Its very basic manners to acknowledge those who come to your aid and fyi (and this bit is important) a bit of gratitude is usually returned in some form.
…chief executive John Delaney adding yesterday: “Denis has been a great supporter of the FAI for many years, and will continue to contribute to the salaries of our senior management team with the Republic of Ireland squad for the 2018 Fifa World Cup campaign.
The revelation was contained in an FAI statement announcing the completion of a debt- refinance programme with Bank of Ireland relating to the construction of the Aviva Stadium, and for which Denis O’Brien was also thanked by the association for his “advisory support” through Island Capital Ltd.
According to the FAI, the refinance agreement reduces the association’s bank debt from €45m to €35m, which John Delaney hailed as “a positive outcome for Irish football”.
Thanks for everything Denis. We can’t really convey it right now but Its really appreciated.
The FAI says it has reduced its bank borrowings by €10 million after agreeing a deal to refinance its debt on the Aviva Stadium with Bank of Ireland… with up to €12.5 million said to have been written off,…there were repeated references at last summer’s annual meeting to the need to get the FAI back into “mainstream banking”. Benefactor
That, at least, appears to have been achieved now with existing association benefactor Denis O’Brien credited with having provided advice and support during the negotiations by way one of his firms, Island Capital Limited.
The association has, meanwhile, also confirmed O’Brien will continue to pay a portion of the Irish management team’s wages. The media magnate previously provided about €900,000 towards the €1.3 million received each year by manager Martin O’Neill and his assistant Roy Keane under their initial contract.
