What was that Phil?

I believe it was something about murdering chewy for his sleeping bag.

Any hassle with the Irish fans out there rocko and bandage et al? Saw a video earlier of Croatian fans burning a shop and getting in small skirmishes with the police. Plenty of irish dotted around in the videos but seemed more intent on filming with camera phones than fighting. What’s the general atmosphere like in and around the cities? Or we embarrassing ourselves or the best fans in the wuddild? I’d say there’ll be little or no aggro with the Spanish fans anyway…

Tried to pull up a post from earlier in the thread. Pain in the hole on my phone

Excellent atmosphere up to when I left this morning anyway gola. Was bit of hassle with police other night but I think that was more of a case of police misreading situation rather than anything else. Square in Poznan was packed with thousands of Irish fans on Saturday and Sunday. Lots of joviality in display. Fantastic experience.

Lots of “We owe the EU more than you” chants or variations thereof…

What’s that in Spanish?

Se lo debemos a la UE mĂĄs que usted. Mmmm, catchy.

+1. Police were a bit heavy handed in the square on Saturday but it was apparently a response to a bit of high jinks involving locals that’s been widely reported.

Seems like they decided to clear out the area to guard against anything else happening.

Was completely fine last night in the square. More chilled out / low key today in Poznan with people here sitting back for the other games.

+1. Croat ladies are quality as well.

Saw no trouble where I was but the cops fairly piled in quickly to cordon off the place. That said they just stood there keeping an eye when they got set up. They weren’t cracking heads or anything but thats because none of the Irish crowd reacted badly to the situation. Some booing but no violence.

Rocko has spent the last ten minutes telling us how astounded he is that Facebook is more popular than Amazon given the frontend differences of both sites. It’s magic over here.

The evening must be just flying by.

with respect this is a pile of steaming sh1te. while we do have similar populations there are other factors at play. as far as i am aware there are no other soprts in those nations that compete for players at the level that the gaa does here.

the participation rate stuff is also sh1te because it includes all the fat forty somethings signed up to five asides and sticking that on census returns and things like that creating skewed statistics.

you also have a multitude of situations where clubs in rural areas are flying along all season until the gaa starts then they collapse in a heap as their players are first and foremost gaa heads and all those lads are down as soccer players in your participation stats.

look around you anywhere you like in the country and compare the facilities for gaa and for soccer and you will see the reasons why the comparisons are unfair

1000 people in Dublin play hurling FFS- all the hun agri sports combined arent even clsoe to the popularity of football- The bunting in Ireland really shows who is top dog too.

The popularity of basketball in Croatia is a lot higher than the popularity of the agricatholic sports in the free state

The reasons why the gga have better facilities is that they are corrupt and paid off FF councillors.

Also most parents are loathe to send kids to GGA training as the GGA explicitly state that they see child safety as a hinderance to them

+1

Scrawnie admitting he broke into tears hearing it on TV - FFS

Quieter tonight in Poznan as you’d expect with a fair few Irish having moved onwards to Gdansk or some of the towns in between.

Still busy enough but not to the extent of Saturday night which was something else.

Plenty of Croatians here still as they play here on Thursday and first few Italians knocking around too.

i dislike croats intensely- Arkan had the right idea

That has to be one of the most contradictory posts ever recorded on TFK TASE mate, and thats saying a lot.

I was very disappointed when I returned from the main square in Poznan at 6.30 Monday morning to find that everyone in the house was fast asleep and that the cans of beer and champagne in the fridge hadn’t been touched. Was expected Phil Leotardo to have had a sing song in full flow with the Croats and Swiss lads who were also in residence.

It was a pleasure to share the same bathroom as Phil though. Sorry about using your toothbrush by the way
