Agreed Fran. But Ireland is actually, generally, now somewhere to be proud of in this regard. From my experience and meeting different cultures and reading about what happens elsewhere we are one if the most accepting nations there is, and in a very short space of time as well. Donal Og has contributed to that significantly and he can be very proud of that. Australia recently turned back in allowing gay marriage unbelievable.
As an aside, Cork has long been recognized as a relatively gay friendly place from a socializing point of view and many gay men move to Cork in the dark years if silence from around Ireland and further because of this fact.
But my point is that people here show their colours at times like this. Itâs like they think we canât all read between their stale tired jokes.
I think the reaction on here to Julioâs post was over the top though. By the sounds of it DOCâs father seems like a gentleman but having 2 gay sons would have put a certain amount of strain on his life in a small rural community like that.
I donât itâs anything like the obstacles that both brothers had to overcome to get to where they are now though.

Itâs just an indication of the state if mind of some people. Julio skipped looking at it from the Gay mans perspective and concentrated on the fathers struggles, which to most straight thinking (or non-homophobic) is a secondary issue, a long way back in 2nd place too.
Donât think itâs fair gay fellas togging and showering with other fellas in the hurling dressing rooms, would straight fellas be allowed tog with and watch women shower and nothing be said and get sexual gratification from it? Just saying, it must be uncomfortable for their team mates like but I suppose if they say anything theyâd be accused of being homophobic.
But fair play to the Cusacks for coming out, we still donât have a premiership soccer player out of the closet and they supposedly being in a lot more open environment than us irish bog trotters.
By the way, what happened Donal og v tipp in 2009?

Fair comment. The pc naziâs love it when they smell blood
This has nothing to do with PC. This about accepting other people for what they are and not judging them on one part of their make up.
Fuck PC, itâs a load of bollix.
Thatâs a fairly lazy generalisation. I know quite a few gay men and none of them wear make up.

why do you assume that gay people get sexual gratification from showering with other men? or that they watch the others when they shower?
Whatâs the story with fellas who coach camogie teams. Do they hang around outside the dressing room until they get the knock that all the girls are decent and itâs ok to come in?
