TFK Fun Running Thread 2025

:joy:

Our relationship with Eventmaster has benefited the SSE Airtricity Dublin Marathon and Race Series by providing online entry system for us for the past number of years. Timing and quality have always met out exceptions and all work was communicated in a professional and timely manner. The online entry system helped transform our event planning with an easy entry system for all. Today we are living the benefits as we have reached over 19,500 entries in the marathon and a further 20,000 in the race series. We consider Eventmaster a reliable partner who has proven to be creative in problem resolution, reliable in time commitments, and overall consistent in meeting our expectations. The work was above and beyond what we could have expected in a short time frame.

Fuck that was some hardship but got one

Anyone else get one?

Got in…eventually. It wasn’t accepting my Raheny Shamrock Athletics Ireland number - saying validation error - but was able to enter as a non club member for the additional €2 charge. What’s an additional €2 on top of €68 plus admin fees?! Don’t know if that’s a system error or if someone in Raheny didn’t re-register us for 2025 but presume the race office can add me to the Raheny contingent in due course. I expect to medal in this race & want to be running for my club rather than as unattached.

Did you renew your AAI membership? If you didn’t then thats why

Agree with you Mac, Bandage is a tight cunt that should renew his AAI membership.

I did indeed. Hearing reports of loads of people in same boat. Only able to get through that way.

My AAI membership has disappeared from our family membership when I went to renew it so there’s some gremlins somewhere

Back down in Gods own country for the Tom Walsh 10k around Caherconlish. Always marks the start of serious training/let it in long and hope for the best for the Limerick run on the May weekend. A lot of dirty fuel to get out of the tank🤣

They put it a bit early in the calendar this year. Best of luck with it.

First 10k done after around 6 weeks of dealing with a back injury. V easy pace but seems to be holding up :crossed_fingers:

Handy enough pace for the 10k all told. Good to get the first one out of the way and have a base to work from. Will look to improve for the Milford Hospice 10k, middle of February I think, always come home for that as well.

What are TFKs fitness heads veiws of larping exercise

LARPing (Live Action Role-Playing) exercises can be viewed objectively as a form of immersive storytelling and experiential learning. They allow participants to engage in creative role-playing, developing skills in problem-solving, collaboration, and communication. These exercises can also promote physical activity, teamwork, and emotional expression.

However, they may not appeal to everyone and might be seen as niche or impractical for those who prefer traditional forms of entertainment or learning. Additionally, LARPing events can sometimes involve complex logistics or create conflicts between players if expectations aren’t aligned. Overall, their value depends on individual preferences and goals.

I tend to agree with this.

Ran my first half marathon in 3.5yrs today. Slow as a week in the jail, and it through the mountains so serious hillwork sessions. During that 3.5yrs, I was confined to the bed with illness for a year. Muscles went to absolute water, couldn’t tackle stairs for a good while after. Gained a ton of weight, and developed serious mobility issues. Trying to put on a pair of socks in the morning was like a fucking gargantuan task.
Went back at it October 1st, which is about 14wks ago, and managed a brutal 2k.
Crippled today, but glad I stuck it out up to that 5k mark, where it starts to get easier.

Fair play. Sounds like a great achievement given the challenges :muscle:
