Darragh Ryan was great, but longevity counts against him. Think he was only involved from 1999 to around 2005. He was more recognised as a footballer in his younger days, did each cruciate within a couple of years and then came to the hurling set up after St Annes won junior and intermediate hurling. They then did the senior double in 2000, which was unreal to be fair. Think they only used 17 or 18 players across each panel, but I digress. But his knees always seemed to be giving him trouble. He was superb from 2001 to 2004.

Darragh Ryan made his first championship start at centre forward against Dublin in 1999. He was called ashore early, replaced by Eamonn Scallan. There was simply no dislodging Ger Cushe, a full back who did stand the test of longevity and I think started every single Wexford Championship match of the 1990’s before retiring at the end of the 1999 campaign.

Doubt Carey will make the cut at midfield . His best days were in the 90s. Hard to justify him as a midfield option off the two years he played there in 2002 and 2003.

I suspect it’s a Turloughmore thing, he would be tame enough compared to some of the characters they have had over the years.

Some haul of medals, not many players could claim 4 hurling all stars and 4 club all Ireland football medals.
