I wouldnât have much issue with Lynch being in the mix and getting the midfield spot, i thought he would as he was always going to get a share of neutral votes to go with the Limerick block. He has been very effective there for Limerick and has a style of hurling and skillset which is fairly unique.
I rate Burke and Lyng very highly, they are what you would describe as prototype midfielders with great engines and plenty of hurling and drive. Lynch is a more cerebral type of hurler and capable of some excellent pieces of skill and vision and he can also do the prototypical stuff too. The likes of Cha and Jerry OâConnor are viable candidates here too and I doubt there would be huge quibbles if either were in the top two of the poll yet neither of them had more than 3 years hurling at a high level at midfield. Fennelly dominated the vote and rightly so, the next half a dozen lads were all fine players and none would have looked out of place on the team, an arguement can be made for all six to bet worthy of a midfield spot.
