City airport is always* fogged in and Heathrow takes priority.
I now avoid flying to City before noon.
*regulary
That genuinely sounds like hell mate, my heart goes out to the poor chumps on this thread
I still use London City all the time. Itās great when fog delays a morning flight so you decide you wonāt make the meeting and go home, dial in instead and spend the day in bed browsing TFK. Iām hoping for fog tomorrow morning.
Leaving the airport āthrough the secret doorā and back through passport control even though you have not left the country
that sounds horrible
I havenāt done morning business flights in a few years now. Flying out the day before is the only way.
Despite being delayed on the ground in Dublin for over an hour. Despite them not letting us off the plane for 20 mins after landing due to a combo of a minor technical issue to the plane (fire brigade needed as standard) and due to a plane starting up its engines beside our air craft. Despite taxi driver need to take a diversionā¦ my 60 minute meeting was very successful.
Now comfortably sitting by at the gate for my glasgow flight after a smooth 10 minute taxi spin from canary wharf back to the airport. No diversions needed
London City Airport is the greatest airport of all time
Not really when you travel light and plan and book everything you need in advance. Fast track security line is the job.
My home consists of screaming kids 24/7. Today I get to influence important people to do important things. But mostly Iām listening to podcasts and relaxing
Red eye flights catch up with you for sure if you do them very regularly. I might do one or 2 a month. Most of the rest of the time I work from home so itās grand.
Today presented an opportunity to kill 2 birds and all that. Otherwise Iād have been on another red eye next week and missed the chance to offload my little one to her childcare in the morning
Very productive day so far thank you. No I donāt work for DHL
Just out of interest, is there any reason alot of these meetings cant be done over Skype/MS Teams?
I understand if its a new client that you may want to meet face to face but once the relationship is established surely alot these flights are needless cc @Little_Lord_Fauntleroy @Fran
agreed
100%. Anyone travelling for a couple of hours is only fooling themselves.
Alot of it can be done remotely. Iām never off Ms teams when WFH.
But you do need to meet certain clients face to face for meetings/presentations. Especially at the start of whatever business they may be considering doing with you
Leave it with me
Good luck trying to convince a CEO or CFO to sign a large contract with you if theyāve never met you in person. Thatās the reality kid
i suppose youre standing outside the creche at 0705 to throw āitā cc @Bandage in the creche before returning at 6-45pm
enjoy the āred eyeā
You will get more done in two days of being face to face with a client than weeks of Teams/email, imo, especially with non-native English speakers. It depends on what you are travelling for though.
Youād look a right chump if you didnāt make the second flight though.
