yes Portland
In terms of US cities its not the worst, very easy to get around with the MAX and decent bars, pubs, cafes in a close centerā¦ Ive been to some utterly horrific places in the states like LA, Phoenix, San Jose, Fremont, Dallas, etc and tbh Portland is very much OK
TBH in terms of things to do and see in Oregon Portland would be far down the list
Only issue is the rainy season has started in the PNW now and my God that can be depressing
oh jesus i cant stand the place
Portandās advantage is that it is a city center and you can actually walk around the place.
Ah look im not a city person anyway, Oregon is phenomenal in the Summer, within an hour you can head off east down the Colombia River (think its I95) and the scenery the other side of the mountains is beauftifulā¦ now for a weekās work i wont be at much of that but if the Blazers or Timber are playing its a nice walk over from the hotel , etcā¦
ah i like it tbh
Phoenix is probably the worst place i have ever been in
In fairness how many US cities are worth visiting and arenāt some cookie cutter job with smaller skyscrapers? Boston, NY, Washington, Savannah, Miami, New Orleans, San Francisco, Seattle, San Diego and Chicago. At a push. Thereās a vast swathe there in the middle that Iād have no interest whatsoever in visiting
Austin ok but Houston??
jesus thatās an incredible dump, poverty everywhere - the wife ( well then we were engaged- a very short enagement btw as she was into closing the deal ASAP) had to do some gig in Rice University there about 10 years ago, we were staying with x2 of her friends (affluent) , they had a great house but the surrounding area, the traffic, the city center, the awful weather - fucking hell
Houston was only place i ever saw an american footballl match , i went to see Rice play the South Atlantic Univ i think they were called from Floridaā¦ i wouldnt go back
