if you want to do a shit drive do I8 from Phoenix to SD
8 hours in 2005 to find a load of lads in SD who were there on a J1
i remember i stopped in Yuma, now this was augsust so it was 120F +, bought a bottle of JD as a gift for the lads but almost opened it en route
it was miles of nothingness, the desert is niceish allright as you cross the state line into Ca but God above this place is deosolate
I should write a book tbh
i walked over to Mexico once - i headed down thru Tuscon into Nogales and walked over into Nuevo Nogales, i wandered around for 15 minutes where guys tried to tempt me into weird looking places and then it took another 3 hours at the wall border to cross back into the states- what a shit day … the US border control have nothing on the Israelies tho - the bethlemhem and qalandiya checkpoints are the real fucking deal if you’re heading back accross after a day in bethlehem ( well at least they assume you’re a tourist) but Qa’alandi’ya was messed up- myself and another fella drove over to Nablus for the day- drove around completly oblivious to the fact we werent insured withe yellow and blue israei plates ( ah look you’d see a few in there as well)…had a great day now- we got a taxi to jenin as well… anayway at Qalandiya- yer won wasnt buying it- turned the car inside out and had us stuck outside waiting for an all clear for 3 hours from border control

you’d be suprised

are we overrating US cities tho?
like the baseline is so shit when we get to one that somewhat resembles a half decent European one we say its great?
Austin is good tho, is it the Embassy Suites there that does free drink from 5 to 7 daily?

Phoenix doesn’t really have a centre. It’s like one massive estate with shops scattered.
Scottsdale is nice though, and the surrounding countryside is absolutely beautiful.

yeah i was in Tempe for 6 months and you have ASU and Mill Ave. which is great for a young lad , 4th July there was carnage, cops took no prisioners i must say
Arizona is Winter is beautiful allright as you head out of that godforsaken valley

Outside of New York, there isn’t a US city I’d prefer to visit ahead of Paris, Berlin, Vienna, Stockholm, St Petersburg, London and so on.

Austin is supposed to be the shizz.

The yanks love building motorways through the middle of their cities.

Maybe but a lot of European cities are shit to visit too.

The first time you see San Francisco it’s a wonderful place. It’s only when you go a few times you notice the homelessness etc

Milan and Frankfurt are fairly awful places.

Lisbon is my current favourite European city.

Savannah is an interesting place but mentioning it alongside those international cities is a bit mad. It’s probably about the size of cork.

Fair enough.

SF is nice allright,
Frankfurt yeah i had to kill 8 hours wandering around there between flight to Tel Aviv and its boring allrigh but then i mean in germany you’d have so much more than that, like Austin, i get it, there’s a street of bars but fuck all else really, ah look dont get me wrong now - i did enjoy my weeks there but i wouldnt be going out of the way to go back there

When you walk around it you can tell that they ruled a good chunk of the world once. The buildings are incredible.

It’s so big though it’s a hard place to visit and get around as everything is so spread out. You have to just pick a neighbourhood and stay there.

Prague is nice and lots to see alright.

The missus wants to go to Milan next month. I’m not convinced. Not a lot to see there beyond the square.

you could spend a week around tower bridge alone, within a square mile of it, if i was touristing it up over there, I wouldn’t stray too far from the Thames.

It’s probably nicer now with less tourists around. Going across Charles Bridge was like getting out from the old stand in Pairc Ui Chaoimh.
