Fair play to you. I donāt know how you keep going.
Impossible to give an answer here without telling us where youāre going in London. Thereās express trains from each but one goes from Waterloo and one goes from Liverpool Street. I fail to see how location canāt be a factor.
Some people are happy to give advice without having knowledge of the specific facts and circumstances but I refuse to do that.

the location is near Convent garden/Kings College. Victoria Station and Liverpool St Station (final train/express destination from both airports) are near enough equal distance/underground stops from the meeting point.
Correct.
Iād have a slight preference for Gatwick so.

Stansted is a hellhole full of cheapskate roasters trying to save a few quid and losers commuting home to Ireland at the weekend as they cannot adjust to life in a modern country, you getter a far better class of person travelling at Gatwick

What express train goes from Waterloo?
FAO of the board, Iāve contacted @Gman offline to help him out on this query. Iām helpful that way. No doubt heāll ignore all advice anyway and choose the most awkward option but sure what harm.

Itās Victoria I thought? Unless Victoria and Waterloo are the same place.
No youāre right the express goes to Victoria although you can also get a train to Waterloo as well.

Come on lads, up your game. Poor @Gman could have been flailing around a ticket machine or platform in Gatwick demanding the Express Train to Waterloo after your advice.

I am a very experienced traveller @mac and leave nothing to chance or unprepared. I had sought the advise of more regular London redeye users as to their preference and the majority have all confirmed as to what I had already thought myself. You can also see from previous that I indeed already knew that the express from Gatwick went to Victoria station. Making out like Iād be some sort of dumb roaster roaring at a ticket machine and/or operator would not be my style.
