TFK International Business Travel Thread

Anywhere in Dublin town centralish. I’m open to recommendation.

Sorry pal Im in Howth on Friday morning, and I know you wouldn’t set foot there, seeing as how you likened it to a North Wales seaside village.

Yep. Big feckin beak too.

The old system wasn’t great either. Unless you flew transatlantic regularly hard to build up any decent number of points.

We go again.

Signing off for 2016.

I hope all international business travellers enjoy the season of Christmas networking events over the next few weeks.

Enjoy your rest Brian. You’re probably the hardest working member of the TFK community.

Do you mind me asking Brian.

At what point do you pawn all this travel off on a lackey. It sounds hellish

I thought it sounded good for a while, until I was in Dublin airport for an early morning flight. Seeing the lines of zombie like “businessmen” catching a 6am to London looked utterly depressing.

I’d say if you were going to NYC for a week every few months or the likes it would be grand job. Suppose it’s like being a sales rep some people love the driving others dont

he has to serve his time, when he gets into a senior position he can send the mugs off running errands,.The only time you’d catch me in an airport now is when I am pursuing leisurely interests

Have had fortnightly London red eyes over the past few months, finishing up soon and won’t miss it. Great work to have, but makes it a long day and tiring week. Have a couple more trips in next 2 weeks, one to London for work, one to Berlin and then another to London for opening of a project I worked on. At least that’ll be a good blow out and all expenses paid night out. Some pay back for the early morning drive to Dublin and flights out.

What Brian does would be hell on earth for me. Maybe it’s that I don’t like change or whatever. But even the few weeks I spend away each year annoys me.
It sounds great at first and the tax free expenses contribute nicely to the family holidays each year. But fuck it when you get back to your hotel room and FaceTime your kids it’s a lonely feeling.
Meeting up for drinks and dinner with colleagues you’d only see 2/3 per year is ok for the first night but after night 2 it isn’t the same.
