Negative to both NCC but I got a a surprise on arrival at the airport when most of the taxis were sporting large NCC discs.
Driver/Owner operators as far as the geezer could explain.

my subtle influence can be seen in the stangest places

Was in Birmingham as stated earier in the thread over the weekend. Stayed in the Travelodge on Broad Street. Flight over was delayed til midnight so it was almost half one by the time we got into any of the locas hosteleries over there.

Funny flight on the way over as half the plane was pissed from drinking in the airport from the time (8pm) we were meant to depart. One of the lads I was heading over with even managed to pull on the plane which was some going!!

New licensing laws over there so we stayed in the pub (called the side and the reel or something like that) Friday til closing time - 4am. Saturday we were basically drinking all day since the start of the match. Watched it in Walkabout an “Australian” bar and then ventured on a mini pub crawl.

That night ended up in a place called Bushwhackers, a nightclub that apparently stays open til 7am although we only stayed til 4ish as we were all balloobas at that stage. Good spot from what I can remember. Also true about what was mentioned earlier regarding the Asians and the locals mixing together.

City itself isn’t very picturesque but good spot all the same. Women wear nothing over there and most are easy on the eye too.
Has anyone ever being to Lisbon?

Going on a bit of a lads weekend there next week - heard its got a very good nightlife.
I’ll reply to my own thread as nobody here seems to have ever gone to Lisbon.

Anyway I would highly recommend this place as a weekend break. I’ve being to a few European cities for a weekend over the last few years (Copenhagen, Barcelona, Paris, Berlin, Krakow, Venice) and I would nearly say I enjoyed this place the most. Definately in terms of nightlife - it was excellent.

The city doesn’t seem to run overrun by tourists by any means and we found the locals to be sound out and up for the craic/boozing big-time.

Eating out was cheap - most expensive item in a nice restaurant was 12. Seafood naturally is quality there.

It was the best, cleanest and well run hostel I’ve stayed in. Also that there was a 24 hour bar with 50 cent a beer made it all the better of course  Once we went out into the the famous Biarro Alto area we had to fork out the vast sum of 1.50 a pint. Bairro Alto has all these narrow little streets with everyone out boozing and not an “Enger-land” stag crowd in sight - reminded me very much of Rio or Buenos Aires. Clubs just don’t close - one of the lads I was with managed to stay in one till 11am the following day.

Paid 15 to go watch Sporting Lisbon in a superb stadium - good laugh in with the ultras.

So refreshing to get away and not be ripped off and have a great time all thrown in.

was there with Rock & larry duff before- they were pretty drunk

Sounds class Phil

The “War Office’s” eagle eye has spotted an hotel offer, in Wexford of all places, " Talbot Hotel" for 2 night’s B&B with evening dinner with 3rd. night free for 118 pps.Facilities to include Leisure Centre etc.,That means, to my simple eye, say arrive Sun. depart Wed. in the a.m.
I have checked their website, which confirms the offer, but given the duplicity of the Wexicans on this Board, would it be safe/wise/mad to book this deal?

Its a nice hotel Boxty. Probably one of the best ones in Wexford town. Nice Leisure Centre as well. You’re down at one end of the town though but you’re only about 5 minutes walk from the Wexford Opera House. Have you heard that there’s an Opera house there?

I’m unsure about the War Office Mac really. She’s mad for shopping, spending money and “buying something for the kids” 35 down to 27. FFS
My philosophy is to spend their inheritance now. With regard to the Opera House, wasn’t that where Prat Kenny planked his arse last year?.. My late father’s phrase comes to mind…
Boss: If you were a duck I would’nt shoot you…
WexicanWhy’s that Boss?
I wouldn’t allow my dog to pick you up…
Boxty having being out all evening is allowed to be piss…

You’re only 5 mins walk from the main shopping street Boxty.

But its all up hill so its really 15 mins. If you want a place out of town have a look at the Whitford House or Newbay House. Newbay House also has a casino and possibly a brothel.
Was in Berlin a few weeks ago. Great city!

I did the bike tour with Fat Tyre Tours and it was great craic. Guide was well funny and you stop for beers half way through too. Supposed to be much better than the walking tour overall as obvisously you see way more.

I have heard the Berlin “Alternative Tour” is class.

Go on the organised backpacker pub-crawl. Messy but interesting to say the least!
Just back from berlin myself now… did the Sandemanns New Europe Free Walking tour and found it very good… was about 3 hours long…
Berlin as a whole i loved as a city … the rules that you can drink on the street but someone cant pour you beers on street is mental… went on pub crawl one nite and for 12 free admissions… drink promotions and few shots… bottles of vodka and orange given to drink between the pubs…
I heard that Potsdam is well worth the visit… hopefully next time ill make it out ther

Perhaps when you are older and not focusing on getting pissed you’ll make it to culture:D:D

Just booked a flight for a few sneaky days skiing over St Patrick’s weekend
Belfast Geneva
Grenoble Dublin- about €160 for the flights for 3 nights.
Can’t wait, there’s snow promised in the alps tonight!

Tis a great great city though that’s worth more than a weekend
Have you finished college? If not I’d heartily recommend an Erasmus there if they still do that sort of thing…

Anyone ever been to Malta? The missus is on about goin there for a week at Easter. Cyprus has also been mentioned

Was there for a weekend on a work junket.
Seemed ok
A hooker tried to proposition me on the way back to the hotel with my missus after a night out, it must have been a slow night

Yes, have been there. Wouldnt go there again if I had the choice.
