Youre provong my point. Estabane is highlighted the shitshow that ireland is for taking refugees. Hes clearly not against it but does raise valod points on where are we going to put them, we have a record number of homelessness along with people not able to get a house, we dont have the services, schools, public transport and a functional health system.
By all means we should be bringing in refugees, clearly we are in a much better position but if we dont tackle the issues raised it will only get worse. Add in no checks and controls you end up with people trying to exploit the system.
Theres no problem with Ireland accepting refugees, especially if requested by the EU/UN who transport them here. Massive difference to people getting off a commerial airline and somehow lose all their documents and forget where they got on the plane.
Putting your finger in your ears and crying that you dpnt like people highlighting this is childish. Its a hard topic, that requires a lot of hard work to fix

He is against it. He’s said he wants them stopped coming here and thinks they should be in places like Poland instead. He trotted out a load of other faux concerns that were taken apart by other posters also.
And you’re proving my point by conflating lots of things. What do you mean by no checks and controls? On who? What checks and controls do you want? The UN and EU don’t bring refugees here, they come themselves, that’s how it works.

I agree that it’s a hard topic and requires a lot of work. As I’ve said many times, it’s an unprecedented emergency, it won’t be perfect no matter how well we perform.

Heard a news report this morning of little children crying thinking they were going to be killed. Having fled wherever and looking for safety. But sure they’re just asking questions.

That’s a smashing article and pretty much confirms my worries about how the EU has handled the crisis and the weaponization of migration by Putin.
The far right are on the rise because of this and will gain traction the more it continues. Putin is destabiilsing Europe just by keeping the war ticking over.

Yes, id agree the likes of them are being exploited by the far right. But completely shutting down valid discussions like glas is, is pushing people to those groups. We saw it with trump, there is no way the vast majority that voted for him are the raving lunatics we see interviewed on the telly.
See my response to trackie. Thats not right but it starts with ignoring debate on valid points, addressing the points, putting plans in place to fix the issues. All you get at the moment is the likes of glas throwing out that your a racist
