That Strange Work Phenomenon

Just wondering what ‘normal’ holidays are for everyone annually these days. Well the PAYE workers among us.

I’ve a miserly 20 days from my crowd. Worse again we have to take Good Friday and our all of Christmas so, in reality, it’s just 15 days that we have to play around with.

27
12 flexi too

What’s that, 12 sickies?

whats a flexi day?

Flexis are when they accumulate enough hours to get up to 12 days off. They’ve up to 30 sickie days so 69 days off per year in total.

Our work is 23 days but Good Friday and Christmas the office is normally closed i.e. extra holidays

You mean they work overtime like?

25 Holidays to take but I only work 3 * 12 hour shifts in a week so I’ve a lot of time off really.

Sure, why not.

21 + Good Friday & Christmas Eve.

Plus overtime.

they?

20 days off is the statutory minimum. Public holidays such as Christmas, Patrick’s day etc are extra (there’s 9 of those).

I have 30. 6 left this year after Christmas.

Yeah I meant 20 days not including Bank/Public Holidays.

Do most places only give out the statutory minimum? I would have thought that extremely miserly.

In other news the owner hear cannot understand why he has a high turnover of staff and was wondering how he’d get people to be more loyal. When I told him more money and holidays he said he thought there might be ‘other ways’. Serious stupid shit.

Other ways such as flexible working hours or thing are like that could help.

A lot of places only give the statutory minimum and you’d be amazed how many companies, especially foreign companies try to give less. My friend worked for an American accounting firm last year who tried to give him nothing back for working Patrick’s day.

Its ridiculously miserly

I think I only get the statutory minimum. I don’t know really. I’ve never taken my full allowance and have carried forward a heap of days.

why?
