The replies. By christ I hope someone in rte are reading the replys

It sounds like a good initiative in fairness. Hopefully there will be a proper independent review of their performance in the pandemic. Anecdotally and from my limited enough exposure to it it seems they have been incredibly biased towards one side of the argument (in comparison to the likes of newstalk at least) although perception is everything and my mother was giving out one day about how negative everyone on rte is about the nphet and government response to covid. Surely an independent review can only be a good thing though and they may learn something from it going forward.

From a link I just posted on the Six Nations thread :see_no_evil:

Ireland head coach Andy Friend has included Connacht’s Mack Hansen and Ulster’s Mike Lowry in his 37-man squad for the opening rounds of the Six Nations.

Your British, maybe you’re not up to speed with all things Irish.

My British what?

I’m actually Italian fyi.

oh sweet jesus we are about to be opened up due to RTE mismanagement and law breaking

In a long-awaited appearance before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), the broadcaster acknowledged that it has committed to pay the legacy PRSI contributions of both itself and its employees who had been subject to bogus self-employment contracts.

Some 500 RTÉ employees are currently having their contracts reviewed by the Department of Social Protection to see if they were misclassified as being freelance workers. There is no statute of limitations on how far into the past that review can go.

The most recent figures suggest that 11 out of 28 employees reviewed as of September had been found to have been bogus self-employed.

Bail out required.

Jail the lot of em

Dunno about that mate. I think you’ll find some of them will be suing rte. Imagine your missus had been working there for 10 years and had been denied prsi contributions, sick pay, holiday pay and maternity leave. It wasn’t just radio presenters that were on these external contractor conditions. This could cost them a fortune.

RTE’s actions will cost taxpayers a fortune

beer mat calculation this could be in the 100 million euro territory - taxpayer exposed massively

time to drop the shutter on RTE

We were calling this 2 years ago. If only someone from Revenue had read the thread. Don’t be surprised if the interest and penalties are more than the actual principal here. It is going to be an absolute whopper.

It’s just left pocket right pocket. RTE will pay the Revenue and the Gubbermint will give RTE bail out money. And you’ll be paying for it.

I think the overpaid contractors might have to fork up a bit too.

We have to pay them well so they won’t get poached
