Didn’t know that.
Hopefully he won’t follow the lead of Dr Gavin by tweeting photos of himself in football jerseys/band T-shirts when presenting
Wouldn’t happen on the Beeb

+1.
From reading the local press regularly, it seems that Wexford has had no CAMHS resources, literally nobody working in the service, for the last few years. It gets plenty of focus at home because you have families with sick children and adolescents having to report to emergency departments in general hospitals because they can’t access the services needed. You’ve things like sedated kids being put on adult wards in hospitals in other counties such as Ardkeen in Waterford and so on. It just seems awful for the people affected.
I saw a doctor on twitter yday mention that whilst he was training he started a rotation in this discipline. Landed in day 1 and the consultant had gone on leave for a month and he was fully responsible for over 100 patients with extremely challenging issues…
With the curtain of covid no longer to hide behind, our medical system needs systemic overhaul. Children being affected for life which only costs more to the State. True investment of funding and resource to right the path at the early stages would benefit all.
There are some good groups in this field and I’ve seen how educating and informing coaches in identifying signs and how provide initial outlets at underage is being nurtured. But the State needs to cop itself on and address this situation in earnest.
It seems to me that there are more votes in placating the existing HSE staff than in addressing the issues for those on the wrong side of the services (or lack of)
There are so many areas of the health service where there are clear rules on what’s required to be provided and it simply isn’t done. Mid manager types refusing to follow HSE’s own rules or guidance because of they don’t have capacity, and it’s considered a suitable response.
Bloated to an administrative oblivion
It’s a service that seems run for benefit of the staff rather than the user/patient
Maybe we need a follow the money system so hospitals are incentivised to actually treat people
It’s shameful and it’s not just a question of more money being spent
Some junior minister lady got a grilling over it from that chap on Drivetime yesterday. She was nearly babbling.
Mary Butler, I assume. The finest FFer in Waterford, god help them. A hopeless case.
Could have been yeah. Sounded a bit countryish.
She’s from Portlaw. Did she sound a bit like Kate Bush?
She sounded nothing like Kate Bush.
It was Mary Butler so.
There was an awful weirdo there from the Winter Olympics who was gutted he can’t make friends
Why don’t they offer more places in medicine in college, hire far more doctors and make them work less. Eventually that will filter through to the top levels then. Far more of them but working less and with less responsibility. Fairly simplistic solution and obviously more a medium term fix but seems an obvious one.
If ever a statement made me feel very old.
I cant even tell if this is satire or not.
Imagine the unmitigated scutter that has been spouted on Joe Duffy over the years. Misinformation would be putting it very mildly
To be fair Joe Duffy’s show is about giving headcases a forum that could stop them going postal
The validity of what is broadcast is irrelevant
