That's it ! everybody in RTE should be executed forthwith

An end of an era must be easily 50+ years of Eileen and Mick on the TV

Easily “oh disgraceful scenes here in Dr Hyde Park”

Up there with Ann Doyle and Dobbo as true Hall of Famers of the newsroom.

John Finnerty was a proper newsreader. I always took things that little bit more seriously when he was doling out the headlines.

Mick was a horror show on the mic!

Some of the nobodies you’d see on duty especially at weekends wouldn’t fill you with much confidence.

Vivienns Traynor is growing on me though. Has a serious air of authority from her days working outside the 4 Courts.

He had gravitas.

Don Cockburn and Charles Mitchell were of this genre as well

In fairness Don was a serious man!

What did he do to deserve the name Cock-burn?

He was one gruff cunt.

She’s no Ann Doyle.

Anne

He’d have fitted in well here

I‘ve said it before but I met Don Cockburn once - in Roundstone where I was working in a newsagent.

He had lovely brown suede shoes and seemed very posh.

Ann Doyle - you’d regularly see her around Leeson Street. Strikes me as a lady who wouldn’t suffer fools.

Anne Doyle :star_struck:

Was she up for the ride?

She’s in Mcgrattans with the jockey a lot. Still in good Nick and would drink you under the table.

Eileen must surely be the last of the old guard to go? Someone who’s been on RTE since most of us were in short pants. Is there anyone else left? Can’t think off the top of my head anyway.

He has a unique style anyway in fairness
