I think @Ralphie posted a bullshit bingo prediction last night & it pretty much all came to pass quite remarkably. I watched some of the morning session live & he came out with stuff about “wanting the children to be happy, hopeful & to read lots of books”. He later got his token mention of JFK in. He must have been worn out playing so many characters.

Is he even that book smart really? I’d say his brother Niall was far more intelligent and pursued medicine. I’d say Ryan may not have even surpassed 400 points in his Leaving Cert. But he got his foot in the door in RTÉ and elbowed his way into the upper echelons. To go from a runner on Gerry Ryan’s show to a man who was at one stage earning in excess of €700,000 is a fair rise all the same.

I think tubs came across as a total oddball with some of his comments about his beautiful soul and getting kids to read books etc. Has anyone got his exact quotes? He’s totally smug entitled and divorced from reality. He genuinely sees himself as some angelic paragon of virtue. I don’t think he had a clue about the payment shenanigans really though. I don’t think he’s money mad in an oddball kind of way. NK knew full well what he was at though and is lying through his tusks.

Yeah, he was maintaining he doesn’t have a head for figures & leaves all the numbers & invoices stuff to Noel Kelly. He’s more of a book lover & political nerd, you see.
But was there not a total contradiction in the story they were spinning? Now correct me if I’m wrong, as I didn’t tune in after lunch & just skimmed through some tweets & clips. But they produced the Breda O’Keeffe email in their submitted material to support the argument that RTÉ had guaranteed the Ren-awlt payments & to contradict RTÉ’s stance. So they’re establishing that they knew what was going on here.
Yet, as it progressed, they were putting forward the position that they thought this money was still coming from Ren-awlt, even after they backed out post Covid, & sure they only made out invoices marked as “consultancy fees” through a lesser known UK company as instructed by RTÉ & asked no questions so they weren’t trying to fool anybody. In playing the role of the complete innocent, there was even a part (was there not?) where Tubridy said he still had some outstanding engagements to fulfil with Ren-awlt as far as he was aware.

I’d an awful lot of time for reynolds and ahern. They were crooks but they didn’t really hide it,and there was a sort of unsaid mutual understanding that they could do a deal, that their heart was in the right place and they were only milking it like any of us would. But really it just comes down to the fact that they cared about the north, made a difference and didn’t ever overtly adopt a position of moral superiority over the public-n stark contrast to the likes of varadkar, martin and these rte cheerleaders- creeps who wouldn’t piss on a peasant on fire…despite all their virtue signalling, politically correct positions and talk of charity. Most people wouldn’t care too much if tubridy was making a bit under the table, but when he preaches and talks about the little children, the good that he does, his soul and how we’re all in it together?..he can fuck off and languish in his self pity. Wanker.
