Suppose fair play to him for getting RTE to pay him a ridiculous salary for asking people what news stories were you interested in today.

When I first heard of Brendan O’Connor circa 1999 through copies of the Sunday Independent I’d randomly find on the kitchen worktop or the table in the hall or in the bathroom bin, I decided I liked him based on the fact he frequently mentioned he was a big fan of Primal Scream.
While I recognise that he had significant cuntish tendencies which he developed and diligently honed for quite some time, I was never quite able to shake that first impression.
I know at least 10-15 people who were in UCC in the mid 90s who would say to this day he was a slimey arrogant prick in college, and a few of them are from Cork too.
I’ve met him once in person about 15 years ago and I could see the good in him but also the condescending cuntery that many other see. He promised us a favour which he delivered on so I’ll give him credit. Haven’t seen nor heard much of him since his TV show was given the curly finger though so interesting to read reviews of the radio show on here.

Surely the next cab off the rank in RTE. I’ve grown fond of him as time has gone on. Televisually, he has gone away so we can miss him now. They talk about every kind of shit in the paper entertainment wise, but not who will succeed Kielty.

As somebody who was there I have to say I find that hard to believe, I’d say he was gone in 94.
What does slimy mean in this context, he did have an arrogance about him but it was humorous
I was in the green room for his TV show once. He seemed fine. A bit quieter than I expected but that might have been because Mary O’Rourke was there and was the loudest. Paddy O’Gorman seemed the biggest cunt there that night.

Often ran into BOC in Ringsend Park during our respective lunch hours. Neither of us bothered the other so I’ll just judge him by the TFK consensus rankings
Met him once on the tv show too. Met passed each other in the hall outside the green room, not much space for two larger men. He remarked that we had met before with I replied that we hadn’t, that I must have one of those faces. I found him sound the same night.
That has subsequently been proved beyond all doubt.
I used think he was an arsehole but never COTY contender territory. He seems a pretty sound and decent guy now.
Who would you rather be stuck in a lift with: BOC or DOS
I don’t mind BOC the odd time I hear him on the radio. RTE blackguarded him dropping his TV show for Ray D’Arcy’s.
