you’re implying intent. Why are you implying intent?
Actually in fairness most things that people get upset about don’t matter in the slightest so carry on
People coming into Ireland from Lanzarote are less likely to be infected.
They’ve actually made us fucking safer.
You don’t think rte have intent? What do you think their editors do? Do you think they just film random things and out them on screen?
Vitamin D is huge in surviving COVID as well.
foreign travel is a hot topic, they’re a current affairs show.
There was no problem when this was reported on with the Rugby and Cheltenham last March.
Fellas get worked up about the funniest thing here.
Why didn’t they shame the rte staff that had the party that broke all the social distancing guidelines?
The people going through the airport are following the guidelines.
you seem to know what the intent is. Why would they be filming people coming back from holidays when they’ve been asked not to in a pandemic?
Get a feel for how much essential travel is happening, how many are breaking restrictions, you know, keep up with current affairs.
But ya, what they REALLY want is the neighbours to ostracize each other and people to throw stones at cars on the way back from Dublin airport - because we’re living in 1930’s Germany
We’ve discussed this before and you are unlikely to change your mind so I’ve no real interest in going over it again.
If he decides not to go it’s pandering to those who claim he undermines public health messaging.
You’d have to be very weak minded to think that.
You’re not weak minded are you?
Good luck and thanks.
that’s your argument son
RTE have really driven a wedge down the middle of Irish society. I’m not sure how it tallies with public service but they have whipped up public outrage, sewn seeds of fear and have now taken a stasi editorial line. Next week it will be joggers running in phoenix Park with cameras hiding in bushes at 7am on a cold frosty in the morning to show how long a breath exhalation lingers in the air. If it wasn’t Lanzarote it would be something else. It always is. Quite a number of people will lap it up but just as many switched off a long time ago. I’m not sure what the country will look like long term after this. We were always known for our “céad mile Fáilte” which is an identity that perhaps we were losing a little bit even before this pandemic hit. But I think a society which is subverted and suspicious of one another over a period of time and encouraged to cast shame and judgement on others will continue to do so. Whatever about the economy, a true sense of community and togetherness may be just one of the many intangibles to be lost in the midst of all this as we become, and encouraged to become more insular and distanced.
It’s deflection is what it is… The government have decided foreign travel is a hot topic and RTE are the government mouth piece. The dots are easily enough joined… Anyway, I’m out.
Serenity now

You can’t explain the value of it yet you are arguing for a politician to undermine the government message to attend a junket you can’t say what it brings.
In a crisis situation, Martin is putting his own personal interests ahead of that of the people.
Smashing post.
This is the most ridiculous, repeated nonsense I’ve seen.
Are people seriously this fucking stupid
He won’t decide not to go. He will undermine public health but he has a photo in the White House to get taken and that’s more important.
Odd that you think a photo opportunity is more important than people being allowed bury a loved one.
WTF happened here this morning, 70 posts?
RTE filmed a few lads coming back from Lanzarote and it’s torn the fabric of Irish society apart apparently
I hope some lad goes into the airport and tells rte he’s going on his holidays because he’s depressed and miserable due the constant fear mongering by rte every day all day by the likes of Claire Byrne and Ryan Tubridy.
