Strauss did it the morning he was on 161 as well (relatively speaking a decent score I suppose).
Warne and Colly must hate each others guts.
Whilst Strauss may be more likely than average, I suspect that a statistical survey would show a higher than average number of wickets going in the over or two just before and just after breaks.

Agree. Strauss is a decent player no doubt about it.
Yes indeed. When it comes to Sportsmanship Australia can preach at absolutely no-one,… except maybe Deane Richardson.

Replays suggest Colly did hit the ball a couple of overs ago. They also indicate Strauss was out off a no-ball. Do the math(s). This has been a long spell from Hilfenhaus. Colly does well to smother a length delivery that straightens.
Also a good question raised as to how many more runs does Bell have to score to beat Bopara’s aggregate score for the first 4 tests?
Well, Bopara has 35, 27, 23, 18, 1, 1 and 0 against Australia so thats 105. More than half way there then Bell.

Siddle returns and I reckon this is a good move by an increasingly angry Punter. Siddle has got plenty of ticker, though [B]he must have wasted a lot of money on this tour in unnecessary face cream. Forget it, even Hussey has eventually realised that.[/B] He runs in to Bell, who seems to be in tip-top form when it comes to executing the forward defensive. I reckon Bell is very much an Ever Decreasing Circles man, just gives you that kind of slightly safe, almost boring, type feel - a touch of the Richard Briers. Maiden, again.
Siddle to Collingwood, OUT, and this time Collingwood does go for the drive and he’s caught at gully! Full and wide, Collingwood gets it off a thick edge and Hussey takes the catch right in front of his face
PD Collingwood c Hussey b Siddle 24 (65b 3x4 0x6) SR: 36.92
Awful by Collingwood. He’s not good enough through the offside for test level, in my opinion. Very strong off his pads but Australia started pitching it full and wide for the last while - negative enough really - and he’s given his wicket away.
Bell gone for 72, first ball after Tea. See what I mean?
Tuffers is rambling on TMS at the moment. Talking about the Aussies getting England all out before close of play. Speculating what they might be thinking really but a bit too enthusiasticly for my liking though.
Eng probably lost 3 wickets too many. The boys on BBC radio reckon that 350 could still be a decent score. That means Oz will knock off 600 odd I suppose.
Very sharp fielding alright. Trott would probably have gotten away with it in County but Test is another level.
Given that at least two wickets were No Balls, they will be dissappointed alright. Losing a wiket with the very last ball was particularly unfortunate.
That said, I don’t see the Aussies getting that. The wicket’s breaking up.
Disappointing to see yet again any number of English batsmen got in but didnt go on and post a bit score. Story of the series. Luckily for England its such a workmanlike and average Australian team as otherwise it would have been done and dusted a long time ago.
Our intelligence from Down Under was off the mark as usual with Hauritz not starting. Hauritz should have started though and already its looking like a bad decision from Ponting not to go with him. Pitch is turning in a big way already and I wouldnt like to be batting last on it. If Marcus North has to bowl 14 overs on the first day it beggars belief why a spinner wasnt picked.
350 may not yet turn out to be a bad score but England will need to restrict Australia.
Very surprised they didn’t pick Hauritz, which says a lot about the Aussie selectors confidence in him. They went for Clark because of his economy, but it could come back to bite them. The wicket is breaking up big time and looks like a 4th day wicket already.
EW have started well and there’s lots of talk here about advantage Australia. I don’t think so, I can see the EW bowlers going well here.
They need to get this tail out quickly on Friday morning and big scores required from the top order, Katich and Ponting in particular.
This could be an epic as Bandage says.
A lot of boundaries, its a very fast outfield, which we all knew about the Oval, so that offers some hope for the batters.

I think England will be rueing not having a 2nd spinner also but the real advantage may be the fact that England batted first and may have gotten the best out of the pitch from a batting point of view.
And someone should have a word with the Aussie bowlers. A helluva lot of no-balls. Accidental or deliberate attempts to mess up the crease.
The English tail is giving a bit of a wag. Last wicket has put on 24. All out for 332. Less than it could have been but better than it looked like at one stage.
