The 2010 Ryder Cup

So we want Westwood to be fit and Harrington to play himself in. What next? The Americans went for inexperienced wild cards the last time and won. What strategy would you adopt in Monty’s position? I must say, I’d really like Robert Karlsson to be in there. Disappointed in Sergio; as Puke says, he has a good record and team golf brings out the best of him. You couldn’t look past Paul Casey for a pick either.

Why are you going to this anyway, mate? No SPL on that weekend?

Agreed though you would have hoped he would have qualfied automatically. Would like to see Stenson there, decent player and not a bad record at ryder cup.

Justin Rose? Too windy? Kaymer should be in there if he doesn’t make it himself. That kid has moxy.

Poults will definitely be the key man after his heroic performance at Valhalla.

Definitely. Maybe Langer is being considered as a foil if Kaymer does make the team.

For next time if you’re trying to remember it just remember:

First two letters of GOlf, then think of the first letter of the word Yacht and the first letter of Dog then the first two letters of OSmosis. Easy as that.

It’s all set up now.

And he proved his moxy last night.

Casey said he’s not coming back to play at Gleneagles but I’m not sure if he managed to sneak into the automatic spots.

Harrington was quoted last week as saying he doesn’t envisage changing his schedule to play at Gleneagles as he’s got other commitments such as a Special Olympics golf day. Low from Harrington.

The automatic qualifiers for Team USA are listed below. Pavin will pick his 4 wild cards early next month.

Phil Mickelson
Hunter Mahan
Bubba Watson
Jim Furyk
Steve Stricker
Dustin Johnson
Jeff Overton
Matt Kuchar

Freak.

Is there anything that defines us as a continent quite like a Ryder Cup?

I think not.

Padraig has done exceedingly well to compete for so long, and even win a few majors. But his terrible form over the last two years shows that his illness is clearly progressing, and it’s only right and appropriate that he now wants to take a step back and play on the Special Olympics tour.

Why the unprovoked attack, Farmer?

Can I please get a marshal to remove you from this thread?

I just want to put on record that I have every faith in Monty and reckon he will be an outstanding captain…An absolute legend of a man

So in Sid’s world you can contract Down Sydrome like you can the 'flu.

Even as a joke that is some amount of shit just there.

I really can’t wait for the Wild Card announcement on Sunday night.

Which of Harrington, Casey, Donald, Karlsson, Rose, Stenson, Molinari, Garcia will make the cut?

prediction comp

harrington
casey
karlsson

I’ll go for Harrington, Rose and Casey.

Karlsson - to hot and cold this year
Stenson - see above, more cold than hot
Garcia - in the middle of a meltdown at the minute, not a chance
Molinari - interesting, which one? Both are on a bit of a roll at the minute, have form, dark horses
Donald - close call too, decent enough form this year, has experience

Anyone remember where they were for Christy O’Connor’s 2-iron into the 18th at The Belfry in 1989? I’ve got goosebumps just thinking about it. That’s what the Ryder Cup is all about.
