I’d have also picked Harrington as a wild card because he uses Flora margarine, meaning that his cholesterol is lower and thus he will be less susceptible to high blood pressure, which can destroy a player’s game. Ice will be the only thing flowing through his veins, metaphorically speaking. He’ll have the heart for it.
It shouldl have been close between Rose and Casey.
Casey hits the ball a mile, runner up in the world matchplay and is a tried and tested matchplay player.
Rose is a natural partner for Poulter, won twice on the US tour this year and is in form.
Either of them should have been in before Harrington.
People reckon the US may be intimidated by Harrington, but in fairness I reckon his own teammates in foresomes would be crapping themselves. He can’t hit the ball straight. he saves rounds by scrambling and has not won in 2 years and not one a match in ryder cup in 06 OR 08.

Also, Golf is very much about form. Who has the swing and the tempo and the confidence at the time to play well. Saying that Harrington won 3 majors is the biggest load of crap going.
He won those with a different game than he plays now. He was a different player than he is today.
Luke Donald started yesterday with 6 birdies in a row. Thats how you win a matchplay.
Harrington gets a rake of flukey pars and that will win fook-all.
Monty will be judged only on results though so if Harrington plays well then the pick will have been genius otherwise it will be a disaster.
You can’t blame Monty if any of the others don’t perform, but Harrington is already playing muck, rubbish record in the ryder cup and didn’t bother his hole to play Czech or Gleneagles.
One final point is that I believe Harrington didn’t play the 2 european tour events, not due to wanting to have a crack at the fedex cup (yeah right) but becuase his game woudl not have been good enough over 4 days to do any good in czech or scotland and he would have been shown up as the bluffer he now is.
He is Europes David Duval. Number 1 in teh world, winning majors, then tinkering with the swing and it’s good night.

Yes Harrington won 3 majors, but that is in the past. The Ryder Cup is about who will win over a specific weekend.
Harrington has won nothing in 2 years and no wins in either of the last Ryder Cups.
There is nothing in his game at the moment that show that he should be picked above Rose and Casey.
If Monty picked a rookie for the team basd on form alone, then why not pick someone else with form over the past 3-6 months.
Even Dyson has better recent form than Harrington.
Actually, even I have better form than him.
Monty will either be going “Told you so” in October or he will be in the same situation as Faldo/Casey.
He may have picked Harrington for the dressing room and may not put him out in the foresomes.

They’re going to play the two Molinaris together as they’d have a good understanding.
What understanding is nessecary to belt a ball around the golf course is a different story. Its not like they’ll be making runs off each other or something.
They asked Jamie Redknapp about this and apparently the two boys are literally like family.
It’s about the group dynamic and so much more besides. People say there’s no tactics in golf. They are wrong. It’s the most tactical game of all.
