Its fucking disgusting stuff alright and thankfully seems to be off. His teammate Michael McGlinchy must be outraged. FFS, why would he even consider talking to a scottish non league team? He should be on the continent, Italy or Spain where something approximating football is to be found. The only decent team in Britain is Irish FFS.
He is, just about. Talk of Michael Owen joining Perth Glory. They are pretty desparate after all. Billy Mehmet just left them to go to some club in Thailand.
I was at the Mariners / Glory game a few weeks ago. Liam Miller looked a very disinterested player.
Yes Phil and thank you for pointing that out. It has left a very bitter taste with us Mariners supporters. The refereeing in that game was among the worst I have ever seen. Sydney are a despicable club who have undue influence with the FFA and therefore always have friendly refereeing (ask any australian football supporter, this is a generally accepted fact). But the other fact is that we are currently top of the table by four points and Sydney are bottom, where they will remain for the rest of the season. Cunts.
It was insignificant. Funny though how the senior football pundit has failed to establish any credibility in supporting the domestic league of the country he lives in. At least the Cisco Kid has some rudimentary knowledge of it, even if his / her chosen team seem to have left the A League.
Tommy Rogic, our wunderkid, the best player in the A League, is going to Spain to train with Ireland’s pride, Celtic FC, continuing the long tradition of friendship, respect and cooperation between these two great footballing clubs.
Fitzy, could you please provide a more detailed overview of Rogic’s qualities and indeed weaknesses. Is he a central attacking midfield player or does he prefer to play in wide areas? Is he a dribbler or a passer? Does he score lots of goals or is he more of an assists man? Does he have a languid style or does he buzz around? Is he quick? Is he strong or slight? Is he left or right footed? Can he deliver dead balls accurately? Is he any use in the air?
Bandage, we’re going to lose him anyway, so what better place for him to arrive in than an Irish club playing top level European football. He’ll find the SPL relatively close to A League standards, Europe will be a step up for him. Buts he’s an outstanding prospect and only 20 years old. To specifically answer your questions:
Central attacking midfielder, tall, languid, extremely strong with it though (he’s a big unit) and his first touch is his main strength, so he shields the ball well from the inevitable three players who jump on him here. Very strong shot from very little backlift, so he’s scored some great goals for us this season, but he sets up more. Excellent awareness and passing is very good, especially in counter attacking moves. He has the Iniesta like ability to hold and shield the ball until the absolute right time to play it to a moving teammate. Surprisingly for a guy so tall, he heads the ball infrequently and we haven’t seen much deadball stuff from him, so they may be concerns. You won’t see him crossing much from the wings, he tends to operate in the central part of a half, attacking the box and delivering ground passes, though he’ll spread it around when necessary.
But he’s a player who can win the ball, hold onto it, score, or cut a defence open with a pass. Best player in the A League this season by a mile, he’s also debuted for the Socceroos. And he’s a really nice chap as well, talked to Fitzy Junior for ages at a Mariners fan day recently.
