Details on Marco Rojas pleaseā¦
Marcos Rojas Rocko. Good player, 21, Kiwi, his Dads Chilean or something. He wasnāt great last season, didnāt score, but I think Ange Postocoglou coming to Melbourne Victory as coach has had a big influence and heās been in excellent form this season, scoring 10 goals in 15 starts. He missed a peno against us at the weekend though. Attacking midfielder, very fast, small fella, good control, excellent prospect. Iād prefer Rogic though.
Time to bump this thread. And what a time.
Western Sydney Wanderers went top of the league on Saturday afternoon, so it was imperative that the Mariners won on Saturday evening. And did we ever. A 6-2 thrashing of Melbourne Victory, the biggest club in the A League, even missing a penalty on the way. It should have been 9-2 such was the relentless nature of our passing and attacking style of play. In the rain and wind swept fortress Blue Tongue (2 points conceded at home all season), our boys swatted the melburnian pretenders away. A hat trick from former Celtic favourite Michael McGlinchy and a brace from young star Mitchell Duke (remember that name, heās going to be huge) with new signing, young Nick Fitzgerald adding one. It was a fun night with the last few minutes played to a chorus of "we want 7"and āAre you Sydney, are you Sydney, are you Sydney in disguiseā, wonderful stuff.
So we now lead the Wanderers by a point, with a Barcelona like goal difference.

On Wednesday we play South Korean powerhouse Suwon Bluewings in the Asian Champions League and then the game of the season on Saturday, at home to the Wanderers in the top of the table clash. Massive week for our beloved Mariners.
KIB Man, it must be very exciting to be in at the ground floor of the remarkable story that is the Western Sydney Wanderers. 3 months before the start of this season, they didnāt actually exist. First season youāre hoping they wonāt get hammered by everyone. And here they sit, second on the table, 7 wins in a row, playing excellent football, organised, hard working, but now scoring goals. Tony Popovic has done an incredible job and we Mariners supporters salute them
So Saturday will be massive, with a big crowd driving up the F3 from Sydney. Big ask for us to back up after the ACL game on Wednesday, but we have a fit and committed squad, so Iām expecting a super game, which we should just edge.
The standard of the A League has improved significantly this season. Its a pity ADP is in such a shit team and now he has the added burden of having to carry Lucas Neill as another passenger. Sydney FC are a disgrace. TASE - itās embarrassing at this stage mate. Thereās still a chance you could make the finals, but a slim one, so chin up.
Go you Mariners. Its my birthday on Saturday, canāt think of a better way in Australia to spend it than watching the boys beat the Wanderers.

The Mariners beginning to fall apart- they lost to Western Sydney tonight and WSW are the club the mariners should have been
we honked Adelaide tonight and we are peaking at the right time
TASE as usual displaying his utter ignorance of the domestic game.
It pissed rain all the way through it and we all got soaked, but what a Saturday night in Gosford at the beautiful Bluetongue Stadium. 18000 there, including about 9000 WSW supporters who chanted and sung all the way through a terrific game of football played by two very well organised and matched teams. We created loads of chances, we missed a penalty (our 4th penalty miss in a row FFS) and then naturally WSW scored with their first and only shot on target. You donāt take your chancesā¦
We lost a league game, we havenāt lost the league. The dream final now of course is The Mariners V The Wanderers, its the peoples choice, its the pundits choice. Having seen every team in the league so far this season, WSW are without doubt the only team that can challenge us. But they are a remarkable story and they deserve their place at the head of the table today.
We take our frustration out on Sydney this weekend and then weāll be hammering Brisbane at home in a St Patrickās Day massacre. TASE, you coming down for that?
KIB Man, did you travel with the WSW faithful on Saturday night? Iām sure I saw you letting off a flareā¦

Boring and staid? Weāve scored 43 goals in the league this season, the highest scoring team in the league. Youāve scored 27 FFS.
We should add to that big time when we demolish Sydney at the weekend.
Totti, whats dumb about my A League posts? What have you got to offer?
TASE, your team is shit and full of cheats.
WSW now 10 games won in a row. Likely to win the minor premiership. An unprecedented achievement as far as I know for a club to win a league in its first year of existence.

Youāre a one man team and Broich is injured. Hard luck for this season mate. The peopleās final it will be, Mariners V Wanderers, pity WSW couldnāt finish the fairytale.
Latest rumour is that Frank Lampard will be going antipodean soon.
I though they stopped sending convicts to oz
FingalRaven, commiserations on your failure of a season. A lot of rebuilding ahead for you as Broich, Berisha and your best player, Mitch Nicholls, will probably leave now.
1-0 to my beloved Mariners last night in the other semi against Melbourne Victory, the biggest club in the A League.
So the peopleās final it is. The new kids Western Sydney Wanderers in their first season of existence, have done incredibly well. Massive support, they will be the biggest club soon. Against them are TFKās favourite A League club, the Central Coast Mariners, the poorest club in the league. Weāve played 3 finals, weāve lost all 3, surely this time? Not sure I can take another loss, though being from Wexford I am battle hardened in that respect. A very nervous week ahead.
Great that the two best clubs this season have made the final, itāll be epic.

It was a beautiful goal alright, heās a special player is Shinji. The support for a western sydney team was always there, now they have a team, its going to be massive. I spoke a group of WSW supporters a few weeks ago walking into the game against us. They were telling me (about 10 lads, all early 20ās) how they were Sydney FC supporters, but changed as soon as WSW happened, and had a ritual burning of their Sydney FC shirts!
Theyāre missing Hersi who was sent off on Friday, big loss for them and our right back Pedj Bojic will be relieved. We lost Nick Montgomery to a sending off last night as well (deserved in fairness), heās a loss, but we can bring in Ollie Bozanic or Nick Fitzgerald, so not hugely worried.
Disgusted the Socceroos coach Holger unpronounceable German name, wasnāt there last night. He would have seen the answer to his central defender problem. Trent Sainsbury - magnificent last night and my prediction for MOTM on Sunday.
that was a stupid sending off for WSW
I cant emphasise enough how impressive the WSW fans are. Someone at work dismissed their support as full of wogs
are you going to the final

They are magnificent, showing aussies how to really support a side. Not going to the final, watching at home, shitting myself for 90 minutes.
