Got fucking soaked this morning. Was cutting away when a heavy shower came out of nowhere. Sun splitting the stones now. :man_shrugging:

If you keep them pot bound in 6-10 inch pots you can force them to grow dwarf size like a bonsai. Pick out the growing points and just leave about 10 developing fruits per plant.

This may suit you better. But perhaps you know this already. Might be a tidier option.

That’s a good suggestion but it’s too late for that now. My book told me keep them in 30cm pots. They’ll grow to whatever size of a pot you put them in apparently. I imagine I’ll get more of a crop off them next year.

Chillies are annuals in this part of the world anyway. But a quick google tells me perennial chillies do exist. But I wouldn’t be holding out much hope. It’s back to the seeds and fresh compost again next year I’d say.

If you prune them back and take them inside they can go into hibernation and you’ll have them again next year. Or so I read anyway.

I keep them inside all the time. I have pruned back the chocolate habanero and the scotch bonnet. I’d be more confident of the habanero surviving. I have a red demon that needs no work and just keeps fruiting.

A vampire chilli. I tasted a little bit off the end of it first and it wasn’t any bit hot. I was a bit disappointed but chopped it up and put it on my eggs. I was wrong my mouth is burning. It’s delicious.

The seeds and the stringy part (capsaicin glands) that attaches the seeds to the shell.

I spotted one of these growing at my parents last weekend. It was only the size of a courgette, but i robbed it to try it out. It was one of the most disgusting things I’ve ever tasted. Perhaps not not ripe enough?.

First time I’ve grown them so I don’t really know :man_shrugging:t5:

Squash have to harvested young, courgettes or any other summer variety. Absolutely delicious sautéed with olive oil and garlic.

Question for @TreatyStones or @anon67715551.
At what stage do you pack up the lawnmower for the year. The lawn has barely grown since last weekend and I’m tempted just to leave it for this week

After following advice on here my lawn is lush for first time ever. It needs a cut though.

Mine is lovely atm. But I fear if I keep cutting it too long into the year, I’ll do damage

One last time should be ok if you do the opposite of your hurlers and raise the blade
