And yes I have encountered Gooch, I actually shared the football field with him and was a selector ona team he played with. Thought he was a gobshite then, and still do. Met him twice since, itās a good while back. But my real beef with him would be his carry on playing, bitching and moaning when he doesnāt get a free and even sometimes barracking his own team mates when he doesnāt get a good ball.

Iām not bitter at all horse, I just really dislike this Kerry bunch, I donāt believe they represent Kerry football in the best possible way. I have massive respect and admiration for Kerry football. I have travelled many times to see club games there, I love the way football is played in Kerry, I went to school with many great Kerry people, I now play over here with a number of Kerry lads who I would get on better with than anyone else. Itās not a āKerryā thing, itās a āthis Kerry teamā thing. A few of them just donāt carry themselves well on or odd the field, and I have met many if them and would have close enough ties to a few of them.
As a Kerryman I understand your views and I also understand the way people view their own. For instance I would have defended the likes of Roy Keane, Cadogan, Donal Og etc on a few occasions when their actions have been questionable, but sometimes too we have to hold our hands up and say our own are not always right. Hence I have on been critical of both Cadogan and Keane in recent times. You can ignore slights on your players all you want, nut there is no doubt some of the carry on of Kerry footballers in the last 10 years are a bit unsporting at best, disgraceful at worst.
I personally find the constant diving disagreeable.
Difficult to see beyond Cork for the All-Ireland at the moment. They have the most talented players, have shown the form and have the tactical nous.
Sid, up until you said tactical nous I did not think you were wumming, now I do.
Cork arguably have the best collection of footballers right now, I would believe that, but I would have massive reservations about the managements tactical nous. Keith Ricken is the most tactually awRe coach I have encountered in Cork, but itās highly unlikely heāll ever het the job.

I asked you had you met the Gooch to see what you were basing your assesment on. Have you down graded him to gobshite from cunt? I would know the guy and would be very surprised to hear people would think him a cunt-I cant vouch for your experience though. If I am thinking of the team you were involved with him it it wouldnt be high profile compared to other teams right? I would also imagine he would have been on a load of other teams at the time including U21. More importantly as a selector did you want to play him at wing or centre back? 
Re mouthing by him I wouldnt agree with that-its wrong and counter productive. Re mouthing at team mates I doubt his team mates have a problem about that-they know what he wanted to do with the ball was probably more productive than what they did. You are no doubt aware of the huge punishment he gets from defenders as they know he is almost impossible to stop legitiamately. I have seen him play a lot and would think that mouther wouldnt be the first thing that comes to mind when people watch him.
Re the Kerry team Im not naive some of them have done things that were stupid and wrong and the biggest problem I would have is that these things were counter productive to the team winning. At the same time its one of the most sucessful teams that ever played and that cant be taken from them. Do I think they are all sound blokes? Not at all like any other collection of individuals they will be all personality types. I would count Gooch as one of the decent sound fellows. I would have dealings with some of the Golden Era Kerry teams and some are sound and some or not. Thats life. Would I expect all of the Cork hurlers or footballers to be sound? Not at all. Would that have any correlation with their playing ability? Not at all.
Re the bitterness I think a lot (not all ) Cork football supporters would not like Kerry but for reasons that dont focus on football ability. I suppose Cork dont like being second best and thats the way it has generally been. So you hear then we are dirty etc. The same thing was happening in the 70s and before that. There would have been good enough relations between the players especially where they were in college together. Nemo especailly would have good connections in Kerry. Maybe they can empathise with us: they are hated in Cork for being sucessful!
From 8 to 15 they are top notch. I can see problems for them at the back if team cannot get enough ball. them which would not be easy They are also vulernable to innovative tactics as your sideline are slow to act. Outside of Kerry I would love to see how they do against Dongeal or Dublin as they have solid backlines.
