Reallly like this tune. Love the way it builds and builds to the loud finish.

An all girl band the best of which looks like this. Doesnā€™t say much for the rest of them.

Brian Eno from the 70s.

Iā€™m sure NCC will be aware of this artist - Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu - an Aboriginal singer who was born blind, only speaks a few words of english, and sings in his native language. He used to be with Yothu Yindi, but released his critically acclaimed album 2 years ago, Gurrumul. Amazing voice, we haven;t a clue what heā€™s saying of course.

A brilliant portrait of him won the Archibald prize a few years ago.

ā€œBapaā€ from the same album:

I posted one of his songs on The Smashing Tunes thread Fitzy a while back, and got lambasted for it.

Some voice on him.

Killer tune here from Greg Dulli and the Whigs. Real Godspeed feel to this albeit way before their time.

Theyā€™re phillistines over on that thread Farmerā€¦

Rough and ready production. Albini was involved.

I can just imagine this being blasted out of a dingy underground cellar.

Good stuff Fagan. You canā€™t beat a bit of Krautrock.

Farmer
What are the parameters for this thread? Kraut and Post Rock obviously and the odd bit of Japanese noise core or Sun Ra. What about long forgotten classics from another era? Would the Associates be in this thread or smashing tunes? Or somebody like Jonathan Richman. Alternative or smashing tunes? A bit of guidance would be nice if itā€™s not too much trouble.

Oh jesus

Smashing Tunes should probably be used for those more well known tunes and this one for the more obscure stuff.

Thatā€™s about as clear as I can make it,

sound

A top tune from an Australian three piece, one of which is an electric violin. Warren Ellis, the violinist, is now a member of Nick Caveā€™s Bad Seeds.
