Look, some of the recent legal cases have been somewhat unseemly, but they’re not all bad.

Ewan trawling through Rugby League sites now in his rugby hatred.

please respond to the article rather than attacking the journalist

Ewan must have missed the 30 years after.

For all of the WWII stuff, France got to two rugby league World Cup finals after the war.

Why is that?

That could have been an interesting article, but it is absolutely dripping with hatred :joy:

Ewan is very angry at Rugby for some reason. There’s a big massive gap in it as well, WW2 then current day. What happened in the middle? It’s almost like Ewan wasn’t arsed to do any research of his own.

One might even say that disrespecting Rugby League was on the lower end of the scale in terms of crimes committed by the Vichy French government.

Hi @Ewan :raising_hand_man:

Ewan is very angry in general.

Rugby league as a sport loves its victim mentality.

League pottered along in France but likely failed as it failed elsewhere because the game was never ever designed as a proper grassroots sport.

Over 100 Welsh rugby players went to league but they never made the effort to get the game going properly there. The rugby union players were an asset for the likes of Wigan, not a means to grow the sport. So despite the fact that they pillaged Union they couldny get the game going.

That article is utter scutter . Ewan is trying too hard to be himself at this stage .

Was never going to be huge growth of RL in wales . RU is very community based in South Wales and clubs have great local support . Probably why the regions have never really captured the imagination there .

A class war that the working class league was never going to win … football already had that sewn up.

True but they put no effort in.

Billy Boston was a superb athlete and quality Union player who they took north, and they barely ever went back to Wales with him to play.

Same with Dave Valentine in Scotland.

Rugby league was mostly a breakaway regional sport that gradually diverged its rules from union (limited tackles only was introduced in the 60s for example). A lot of their complains are childish in the extreme.
