Comparing a rugby final in 2017 to CL finals in the 70s is a ludicrous comparison.

Budget airlines have made travel much more accesible to football fans in the past 20 odd years. There would never be a problem for UEFA to sell out the ticket allocation for a European football final now. There would never be the farce where they are trying to flog tickets to the premier club football game in Europe with a few days left.

We’re talking about the fact that the rugby organisation was desperately trying to flog tickets a couple of days before the final. There are probably more applications for the 6,000 odd tickets that will go on general sale than attended the rugby final yesterday. The CL final will always sell out in the modern environment, it would sell out three times over in likelihood. Football is huge business, rugby is a niche sport.

I attended one European Cup Final - Manchester United v Chelsea at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow in 2008, it didn’t sell out due to Chelski being unable to sell their allocation. The attendance was reduced by UEFA to 69500, 67300 atended despite the requirement of a visa and photo ID with match ticket to clear russIan border control. I slept on a boat down on the docks due to the complete lack of suitable affordable accommodation.

Contrary to what @Nembo_Kid is trying to tell us, we have an eye witness account from @Mullach_Ide (who was in Moscow in 2008) that not all European Cup soccer finals held in the modern environment have sold out. Any reaction from the Chelsea supporters about the farce of UEFA having to flog tickets for the Premier game in European club soccer in 2008 when Chelsea weren’t able to sell their allocation. Did the budget airlines not make it accessible for Chelsea fans to travel from London to Moscow?

I think there was around 55k at Saturday’s match, pal but judging by the amount of people I know who were at it, I’d say that number was hugely swelled by Irish sheep who figured there’d be at least 1 Irish team in the final. Saracens would be a poorly supported team because they are cunts run by a supercunt and the French are too mean and lazy to travel in big numbers.

The first flight I paid for was to France in the early 90’s and it cost the guts of 400 quid. I only flew twice more in that decade.
