The initial decision was not out. The review showed the ball hitting the middle stump. However the ball clearly changed flight to the right in the air before it hit the pad which could only have been caused by an inside edge. For some reason the Snicko machine went on the blink and didn’t pick up anything. There was no possible way the ball could have turned right off Trott’s pad anyway but the change of direction came before it hit the pad. Botham was livid about it at tea.
