Iâd like to think Dublin are capable of a lot better than that. Some of the most headless shooting youâd ever see in a game of hurling. The amount of aimless ball hit into their full forward line really surprised me. Youâd have expected them to use the ball with much more intelligence than that considering their league performances.

Couple of thoughts watching the 1997 Leinster Final on RTE 2:
-
By 1997 the game of hurling had reached a level completely removed from 5 years earlier. The mid-nineties truly were a watershed for the game.
-
Thank fuck those foghorns died away. Drowning out the noise of the crowd and headwrecking to be anywhere near as well.
-
Liam Dunne was an immense centre back. Such a shame that leg break took so much out of him as a player.
-
Kilkenny are some timber merchants when it suits them.

No better county than KK to lower the blade when necessary. The likes of Tipp never raise the blade, but KK lower it better than anyone when needs be, otherwise, theyâll just hurl you out of the way.
Good to see PJ Delaney in action as well, before he had the misfortune of sampling the Tipperary nightlife.
Jaysus of course, I had forgotten about that, horrible story that.
The old Bob O Keeffe cup, now that was a fucking trophy.
Was watching the first half of it there and ya have to say the standard of hurling has improved ten-fold since then.
Having said that Iâd like to see the likes of Kieran âHeroâ Murphy or Pa Horgan against some of them boys for 70 minutes. :guns:
Guiney was a bit intense thereâŚ
Come on KK v Dub and Wex v Galway
Kilkenny v Galway
Dublin v Wexico

It definitely has. But for fifty years prior to the nineties the game hardly changed at all. Consult All-Ireland Gold for supporting evidence.

Hope we lose. I fear of the behemoth that will be created should Killkenny be beaten this early.
Wasnât really bothered who we drew there. Dublin werenât very good at all today but theyâll hardly be that poor the next day. Theyâre fairly fooking headless all the same and donât seem to learn from their mistakes or seem capable of taking their game to the next level.
Take that ridiculous game in Nowlan Park against them last year when they were leading us by something like 0-11 to 2-1 at half time. Dotsy OâCallaghan was killing us so the obvious thing was to keep feeding him but they came out after half time and started going for Hollywood points from 70 or 80 yards.
They did the same kind of crap today. Their half forward line was pretty poor but OâCallaghan was very dangerous when they did use him. Antrim missed a fair few chances so the concession of 0-12 is a bit misleading. We should be well capable of taking them, I reckon.
Yeâll be safe enough. Dublin/Wexford has the making of an interesting clash.

i thought the main hurling ground in offaly was birr⌠not o connor park in tullamoreâŚ
Redeveloped isnât it? Surprised a Leinster person doesnât know that.
Billy Byrne was some legend. Played for 7 minutes and in line for man of the match.
Whatever about Kilkenny been able to lower the blade Wexford were well able for it and able to respond. Wish teams now could give it back to the cunts. Iâd love to see Pa Cronin do a dive beside one of the oâconnors. Willie would rape him if he tried it.DJ got some slap in the puss in the first half and just got on with it. No fucking about.
Remember woundering at the time how hard it would be getting tickets if it had been a Clare Wexford final.
Did you see the half back line that Kilkenny had out?
Dan OâNeill centre back and John Costelloe half back. Jaysus!
Ger Canning referred to Denis Byrne as David Byrne at one point.
