The Battle for Liam 09

Not getting worked up kev, just wanted to point out it wasn’t a committee decision, it was a popularity vote.

Great to see Johnny and Joe Dooley in there, two legends of the game.

Srange selection. I’d have gone with something like:
Paddy Mullaney
Brian Campion Pak. Cuddy Cahir Healy
Liam Dunne Paul Cuddy Mick McEvoy
James Young James Walsh
David Cuddy Henry Shefflin D.J. Carey
Eddie Brennan Billy Byrne Damien Culleton

Is it true that Laois can’t meet Galway again until the quarter final stage? So Wexford and Galway wins next weekend would guarantee a Wexford/Laois tie?

Yes, although Clare will knock out galway this weekend, leading to an open draw…

That’s what I’m led to believe anyway.

Subject to avoidance of Repeat Pairings, where feasible, a Draw shall be made to determine the Pairings.

That’s from the GAA site and it is feasible to avoid a rematch. It more or less guarantees Laois a place in the quarter final where we’d fancy our chances against either Dublin or (most likely) Waterford. Keenan could be back by then which would see us past Tipp or Kilkenny. My only worry would be a potential all-Ireland final against Galway who’d have the psychological advantage over us after the Leinster quarter final.

Would love to play Wexford again. Continue our proud tradition of hockeying the windy yellow-bellied fooks.

Yeah it would be handy shooting practice alright, they might give derek quinn a recall for it :D…

Don’t think we can play them though, we will either get cork or laois…

A full-forward line of Cyril Lyons, Tommy Guilfoyle, and Jim Mc would cut loose. Would be about time we broke the 30 point marker against them.

Yerrah we might as well wait til the development squad hockeys them next year in Division 2:guns:

About these qualifiers. Will phase three be played in neutral or home/away venues? I’m flying back into Shannon on the 18th and wondering will I be able to make the Laois game. Given that we’ll be playing one of Limerick, Wexford or Clare the possible venues I can think of are Ennis, Limerick, Wexford, Thurles, Kilkenny, Carlow, Port Laoise all of which I could make (presuming it’s a 7pm throw-in) except Wexford. Will Wexford beat Limerick and will neutral venues be used?

Neutral last year anyway.

Could well be a double header, it was last year for the third phase qualifiers between Offaly V Waterford & Galway V Cork in Thurles
