some big men named in and around the midfield there…
From the highlights i thought it looked a very decent game, Leitrim got a superb goal from the full back, will be in the GOTY catogary anyway i’d say.
Enjoyed Tyrone-Armagh 2nd half as well. Tyrone are scryingly fit. Saw Ray Silke had a serious cut off Conor Gormely yesterday in the Examiner, probably a little over the top i thought.
Does anyone know what Tommy Freeman did to get 8 weeks. I don’t think anything i saw him do could be the eqivilant of what the 2 Derry knacks did.
He came in with a head high tackle and cut a lad in two, then tried to pretend like it was nothing
He seems like a hardy boy
We might be, but we have a windy enough full forward line. Now i don’t worry about DO’C, he’s light and can be blown away, but its rare he’s caught these days. I have very little mass in Masters at the very highest level, and by that i mean Croke Park. Goulding is a big man, but is still a little green.
That Kerry team isn’t too frightening really. I’m glad Tommy Griffen is centre back, that they picked the midfield they did, and that Darren O’ Sullivan is starting. Donnacha Walsh has a bit to do to convince me he’s a top Kerry standard player as well.
The most interesting battle could be Miskella and Galvin. Galvin would be well wound up for Noelie. But with no Noelie how will he react to the more athletic and attacking Miskella. Obviously he’s well able to cover the ground, but Miskella is averaging 3 points a games at all levels lately.
Rumour has it Ray Carey is going marking Gooch, a major gamble for such a young player to mark one of the greats, but he is an incredible marker at the lower levels.
Really can’t pick a winner in this one after reading that Kerry team.
Friend of the Forum, Niall McKeigue shoring up the middle for Meath this weekend. Niall is a nice fella and decent corner back, but centre back? I don’t think so. Dublins to lose.
Limerick should mince the Clare men I imagine.
MEATH (SFC v Dublin): P ORourke; A Moyles, K Reilly, E Harrington; S Kenny, N McKeigue, C McGuinness; M Ward, N Crawford; S McInerney, S Bray, B Meade; C Ward, C King, B Farrell.
CLARE (SFC v Limerick): D OBrien; L Healy, C Whelan, D Ryan; Gordon Kelly, K Dilleen, Graham Kelly; G Quinlan, G Brennan; E Coughlan, D Russell, P Reidy; M OShea, T Ryan, D Tubrity.
LIMERICK (SFC v Clare): S Kiely; J McCarthy, S Gallagher, M O Riordan; S Lavin, S Lucey, P Ranahan; J ODonovan, J Galvin; P Browne, J Stokes, S Buckley; C Joyce-Power, I Ryan, G Collins.
Meath have a far more settled XV than Dublin. This could be a lot closer than people think.
Now where are those handicap prices…
I dunno, these games are difficult to call at the best of times. Meath surprised me earlier this year, far better than I expected. It’ll all come down to Dublin getting a start. Don’t fancy the Meath backs much.
CLARE (SFC v Limerick): D OBrien; L Healy, C Whelan, D Ryan; Gordon Kelly, K Dilleen, Graham Kelly; G Quinlan, G Brennan; E Coughlan, D Russell, P Reidy; M OShea, T Ryan, D Tubridy.

Last year KIB sub goalie Dermot O’Brien starts?
Only one other KIB man in the first 15 - Coughlan.
Seriously I reckon the KIB first team would beat the Clare team.
I missed Wexford-Meath in the League as I was either at a Celtic game or Wrestlemania and I haven’t really paid much attention to them, but is the C King #14 Caoimhaoin King? Has he been playing in the forwards all year or will he roam / play in defence and they’ll leave two men inside? I’d expect lots of positional switches - Moyles will hardly be corner back, not sure about McKeigue at centre back. They have a strong midfield though.
Moyles will follow Alan Brogan everywhere I would have thought.
Would brogan not take moyles to the cleaners? fair difference in pace there. As far as i can remember King played around centre forward against us. Great point taker if given space but a tiny bit slow.
Ah yea, but Club football is a long way from Inter County. Best wishes to him proving me wrong mind you, he has the football for it, and maybe Andrews will suit him.
put it this way he’d be as much intercounty centre back as Ger brennan is…they would be quite similar actually…same height and build, left footers…still think Mckeigue will be sent out to pick at brogan though…
Always thought Brennan would be bigger than Niall, could be wrong.
I’d have thought the same as you. Don’t really think they’re similar players anyway in terms of style. McKeigue is a tenacious, blocking sort of guy who looks for all the world like a corner back. Brennan seems more interested in possession and passing and bursting forward.
