The Corruption Thread

eh, we get our food from North County Dublin mate

Except this is factually incorrect. Ireland has a track record of not investing in Dublin, it has been underinvested in since the foundation of the State.

Dublin is not out whack with international standard capital city sizes.

The main source of water supply for the Dublin Region is Poulaphuca Lake on the Upper Liffey . Water is abstracted from Poulaphuca (Co Wicklow) and treated in Ballymore Eustace Water Treatment Plant (Co Kildare).

oooffftttttttt

that’s what I said, you’re an awful man to just make up something to argue with yourself about

You’re some man for an obsession with Dublins water infrastructure :joy: :joy:

So you want Dublin county to be separated from the rest of the country. Starting to sound like a true West Brit.

id like the likes of @croppy_boy to be grateful to us city slickers for subsidizing his lifestyle choices

You should be grateful to all those who choose to live in rural areas who produce your food (if you think all your food comes from N Co Dublin you’re ever so slighly deluded) and allow you to dream of a cycle network because you have no understanding of the distances rural people need to travel. You’re indeed a “city slicker”. There aren’t too many worse insults.

i only eat Huel, Fish & North County Spuds & Spring onions mate

Anytime im in the shop it seems that the vegetables comes from Morrocco or Spain tbh

rural people travel distances because they build one off houses in the middle of nowhere and expect us to subsidize this or accept their pollution as being ok

Where were all those involved in the banking scandal, that took almost ten years of taxpayer funding to bail out over €40billion, based?

I wouldn’t know what huel is pal. I’m away now to drive my gas guzzler. I’m sorry about that but I have to travel 40 miles and a bike just won’t cut it.

exactly

what about them

Where were they based? Where were they living beyond their means to such an extent that they weren’t able to pay what their corruption caused?

They didn’t pay back the €41.7bn on their own. We all did.

The quarry owners are the culprits up here, not the house owners. It’s unlikely that the quarry owners have the approximately €4bn that it will cost to rebuild the house to the original standard that was purchased.

Why do you think the bankers should be be bailed out when they couldn’t pay buy the quarry owners shouldn’t?

eh, why are people expecting 3000sqm houses to be built for them, thats crazy, limit it to 1500sqm and ill wont begrudge redress

Why though? if that’s what someone paid for why are you limiting what they are entitled to recoup?

And it’s not just family homes. One family built the Station House Hotel in Letterkenny and that will have to be completely rebuilt. Do you think they should just be given a B&B to run?

The same goes for many offices and apartment blocks that are going to have to be completely demolished and started from scratch.

Governments don’t “put” jobs in those places as you suggested. Outside of civil service/semi state jobs (which are a minority), the biggest direct impact they have on jobs is direct government subsidies and things like airports and indirectly, the general business environment. On that front, I disagree with you on them “putting” them here.

As I mentioned, Dublin’s size is not outsized in international comparison terms.

What’s your living situation at the moment?

This is why the rooral broadband plan and compulsory Irish for the leaving certificate needs to be dropped. We have to stop giving them incentives.
