The Corruption Thread

The displacement for rebuilds is obviously going to be a serious issue. Where will these people stay? Everyone looking to move out of the family home at the same time for the same reason and no properties available to stay in?

Absolute clusterfuck.

I put forward balanced criticisms of the government, including on Covid, as you well know.

I’m not sure what the Big Business angle you are taking here. 100% redress and the State just taking the cost is in actual fact letting off businesses.

But I don’t think you have really thought any of this true and are just looking for a narrative to make yourself feel better.

They aren’t looking for excess compensation, they are looking for fair terms for being fucked over in their own homes.

Displacement, stress, issues with schooling, all sorts of ancillary issues arising from this.

It’s grand though. Here’s a few bob for ye

If things were right they could take this to a court of law and get millions per family. Lives are destroyed.

Comparing this to people who chose to invest excess money is very callous. These people invested in homes to raise their family and have been criminalized.

I’m already worried about this. Young 'fella starting primary school next September and we not be able to a house to rent within 40km of the school at some point.

I’d imagine any private landlord with a non-MICA impacted house in Donegal can charge whatever they like in the near future.

Who is protecting the corporations through law in this state? Why can’t those responsible be held accountable. FF/G and big business. Hand in hand.

Are these all family homes though?

Plenty of holiday homes in Donegal, lots of Air BnBs, essentially investment properties. Will they all be covered by the redress scheme as well?

@croppy_boy ?

No they haven’t been included in the scheme to date.

should they be?

No the redress scheme has always referred to the ‘primary family residence’.

building costs maybe, if there is somewhere else to live or a primary residence they should be capped at the rebuild cost, not the cost for alternative living arrangements.

“Excess money” - wrong.

Do you invest in your retirement? Is that excess money? No it is not.

It wasn’t just pensioners either by the way, you had 20 somethings with bank shares holding them until they could afford a house deposit.

This fella was all just about “excess money”

What I simply pointed out here was that, in his attempt to put his case above others, croppy put a hierarchy in place and dismissing others. You are trying the same now, as I assume it has got into your brain that the State cannot provide 100% guarantees for everything we put our money into. It’s fairly pathetic when it comes down to it that is the level you get to. You have to dismiss the plight of others to buttress your argument.

Again, nobody has an issue with a level of redress. You previously made a factually incorrect statement on that with regards to me.

If the state don’t want to pony up they should go after those responsible and get accountability from these crooks. But no, they’ll look to stiff the regular man and keep the noses in the trough

that’s some strawman in fairness to you.

This is an absolute fabrication you lying cunt. You didn’t even tag me here in the hope it would slip by unnoticed.

It isn’t a straw man.

You claimed putting money in bank shares was “excess”.

I responded. Stand over your argument or don’t.

To be fair the State are going to attempt to chase them up but the cunts have new companies created and the old one are worth next to nothing allegedly,.

It is a straw man. You’re claiming I’m belittling other people when in reality you’re the one belittling people that have had their lives ruined for no good reason other than to play the FF/G and corporate shill.

You’ve thrown out a few tropes to make it look like that isn’t the case, but it is and you know it.

You’re some man for the hyperbole.
