That’s good value in fairness. Back in January for the wife’s birthday and we went out for a bit. €37 for a sirloin. You couldn’t justify ordering it.
Was in Tormeys butchers in Galway last week. Lamb chops, daysunt as they may have been, were €4.99 a piece. Steak was €38/kg.
While restaurants etc get wholesale, they are not shopping in Lidl either.
Fish has gone nuts in price in the last while. A box of cod has increased by €100 a box.
Dock Road?
The city center version
I wonder do people keep or less track of their spending when nearly everything is on card now.
It is nice tbf. I rarely drink coffee so I don’t mind being stung for the 50c extra, but fucking hell it’s some price.
The place on the dock road has a massive wall chart explaining why everything is so expensive. One of the excuses is that they have to hire more staff this year. Presumably because they are so busy… didn’t seem to wash as an excuse for me.
That dock road place is weird. Why don’t they throw in a few tables or something. It’s like a paint shop with a coffee place in it
On this one, the price of cocoa has gone absolutely bonkers. A tonne of cocao costs more than a.tonne of copper almost!
Theres heavy investment gone into replicating cocoa in labs and, with the price the natural form is at, wont be long being adopted.
@iron_mike true?
Why is it gone so mad?
You’re on the ball there.
Flood and drought in cocao growing areas i believe.
Youll see a twix and a twirl with only one finger in the packet next but same.price as now!
Our butcher is a family friend. Runs a wholesale operation and a retail shop in town. 15e for 5 fillet steaks last weekend.
Yum yum.
The msrkup difference is insane from wholesale to retail. Have a pal in the restaurant game and would.get sides of beef off him.occasionally.
Differemce is fucking huge
Cunt of a thing is 3 euro!
70% is the margin required for a restaurant operation I was told.
I have no experience in the sector.
Id to meet a fella.in the eden house 2 weeks back. Said id grab the lunch as he was doing me a favour. Up thr carvery counter, tray jobbie.
2 sandwiches on white bread please. Chicken and cheese in 1, chicken cheese and tomato in the other.
Cup of soup each. Not packet stuff but soup served in small cup as oppozed to a bowl
Go to pay. 28 quid, 14.00 each! Asked her to check.it and she was at pains to say it was correct.
Its mad. And the place would be heaving which i cant tally. Id no more countenance it unless in similar predicament (ie work reimbursement) than the man in the moon
It’s true that the price of cocoa has rocketed. However the margin in chocolate/ confectionery is so ridiculously high that there is more than enough room to absorb it.
A bag of Maltesers and a bag of minstrels is some combo watching the nfl on a wintery Sunday night
A bag of Maltesers lobbed into hot popcorn in the cinema , delish
Not a drinking pub nor an atein pub, odd spot.
