My oldest was 6 today. She spent it in Crumlin Childrens Hospital. She has been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. I know it could be an awful lot worse, but its a right kick in the nuts.
Balls to that anyway, thatâs a blow but you know how it is with medicine etc these days, good luck
Sorry to hear that boss. But its probably best that theyâve caught it at this stage. It should be easier to manage
Sorry to hear that mate - you havenât had it easy. Hopefully they can at worst help you manage it to allow her live a healthy and normal life.
Sorry to hear that.
I was in Toronto a few years ago in the university where they discovered insulin. They were confident stem cells would offer a cure.
Best of luck. Sheâll be the finest no doubt.
Tough going boy
Sheâs in great hands in there
Very sorry to hear that & best wishes to you all.
Tough news for ye but am sure it wonât knock a stride from her gallop.
Best of luck to your little girl fenners.
You could have done without that a chara. Science is improving though, sheâll get the best of whatever is required and adapt seamlessly to it. Looks a bit spoofy written down but kids are unreal at switching strides mid-race and I know and hope sheâll be the finest.
Sorry to hear that pal, I canât sing the praises of Crumlin high enough, she will get the best of care there, my youngest daughter was born 2 months early with a hole in her heart, I followed the ambulance for 3hrs on the road to Crumlin not knowing what to expect, the care she got there was frankly unbelievable, they saved her life and I will be forever grateful, sheâll be 8 next month and not a bother on her
+1 our youngest was there for 2 months when she was 8 and needed surgery on both kidneys, an issue developed out of nowhere and was very scary at the time, the surgeon in particular explained in laymanâs terms what the issue was and that it was caught early and the prognosis was good. The care and attention from all was second to none. Anyway all went well and not a bother on her since and sheâs 19 now, in fact from all the scans and ultrasounds she had she wanted to be a radiologist since she was about 10 and thatâs the masters she wants to do when she finishes her degree.
All the best mate, awful news to digest but youâll all get through it and get the best medical attention possible there.
There are a lot of worthy charities out there, but Crumlin and Temple St are the two I would go out of my way to support no matter the circumstances. Walk the halls of either just once, and youâll realise why. Both are chock full of the greatest people and the most heartbreaking circumstances. Theres few whoâve been inside the doors who wouldnât happily go home with their own problems after seeing the troubles some have.
Best of luck lads.
My own eldest spent a bit of time in Crumlin too early on, they are unreal in there. It would break your heart walking the corridors of the place. Anyone that has a fully healthy child youâre blessed as plenty of them meet a set back here or there. Kids are resilient or so Iâm told, best of luck to your little girl @fenwaypark, she is in great hands in there.
Tough break fenners, best of luck with it.
