Our little wan I think will be more into singing, dancing, ballet all that crap, so her mother can take her off to that. Iāll take her hiking.
At a birthday party on Saturday, all the kids were having a go at the pinata with a stick. Our wan goes up and gives it the most delicate tap. I said to the lad beside me 'she will break fuckall ball in the half forward line anyway '.
If the child doesnāt want to play hurling donāt be making him play. Thereās plenty of other hobbies a child could have that will be just as good. He could take up music for a start.
Iād say we might be in the same boat with our older lad. Heās showing no interest in playing ball games or sport generally. Just about to turn 4 so naturally that could change but heās obsessed with letters and numbers & shaping up to be an academic sort. The younger lad is wild and has the makings of an adventurous wing back with a bit of a dirty streak. Weāll bring them both along to GAA in due course but wonāt force the issue.
