Rooney was a sensation as a teenager. Lit up euro 2004.
He was brilliant in his prime particularly between 08 and 12. But he’s not in the ball park of messi or Ronaldo throughout their careers

Yeah I think 06-07 was the first season where he really caught fire. Would have been about 20/21 at that stage.
Cassano was a breath of fresh air when he broke onto the scene too.

Supposedly having a fine season at Sociedad. Don’t think he ever really did it on the big stage as a teenager, was just signed by Madrid at 16 and spent 3 or 4 years in their underage and B side
I remember Del Horno couldn’t even kick a 17 year old Messi properly in a CL tie at Stamford Bridge one year. It was my first time seeing a full 90 mins from Messi. Del Horno eventually got sent off. Ronaldo and Rooney had talent and some great games as teens but they are nowhere near the little man
