The Death of Gaelic (fist) Football

Tyrone club football is strong as they have no super club, a number of very decent sides and a great level of competition.

Derry club football is poor because it has one super club and a number of poor to average ones with a very uncompetitive Championship.

Bollox, several clubs from Derry have won or appeared in senior ulster and all Irelands. No tyrone club has even made it to an all Ireland final and you’ve only two ulster titles.
Here endeth the lesson.

dont over think the game. all it needs is to be allowed breathe. eliminating the handpass will over time result in less of the 15 men shitting on the blanket defence as teams in possession will need an outlet to kick to up the field.
the nordies have destroyed football. eliminate the handpass and with the stroke of a pen you destroy them, they are stone dead. kerry will be back then as they are the master of kicking and fielding the ball and thats what will save football.

They don’t like it up’em do they?

An outright ban on the hand pass is a stupid idea. Anyone who thinks it’s a good idea is an idiot.

It needs to be altered some way - but eliminating it wont work - only a tard would be advocating that.

its no suprise the people currently playing fistyball want to keep the handpass and those who dont play it but would like to see the game become a spectacle again would like to see it eliminated

What is the Derrymen’s obsession with appointing Tyrone men to lord it over them?
I can imagine Derry people being into all kinds of weirdness sexually.

I’m sure you can.

Slaughtneil are going for 5 in a row, mate.

You seem to know more about the Derry championship than you do about how tyrone clubs capitulate once they’re out of the bog

What I really like is that they want to keep it, but really restrict the amount of it by coming up with complex zoning or sequence rules. I think so long as we have a rule in the rule book that the fist-pass can only be used in a spectacular goal scenario then we should be grand.

The Derry championship is unbalanced. Maybe Slaughtneil should be broken up.

Its Ulster club football, that will happen without any outside assistance.

@Cicero_Dandithinks all clubs should be weak. That’s a sign of strength. Sure you couldn’t make it up

I think all clubs should be strong. Tyrone do not have a super club but they have 8 or 9 clubs more than able to win a county championship and be competitive in Ulster.

Only one of the 8 or 9 has ever won ulster though.

We’ve had 7 different winners in the past 8 years. They generally get one shot at it compared to the seasoned winners like Kilcoo, Slaughtneil, Cross etc.

And none were good enough. That’s settled then.

I generally find that a good rule of thumb as to the overall strength of club football in a county is the strength of the county team, given that county teams are made up of the best players in club football in that county.

Tyrone, I believe, reached the All-Ireland final this year, while I’m told Derry lost in the first round of the Ulster championship and then lost in their first game in the qualifiers.

That to me would indicate that club football in Tyrone is considerably stronger than club football in Derry.
