The depression thread

Stay strong mate, your work is very stressful, just a suggestion but maybe a career change might be beneficial to your all round health.

Sorry to hear that Batigol. Ive no words of wisdom but this is a great place to vent. Hope you feel better soon.

You’re my third favourite Limerick poster. I was saving that little treat for you.

That’s all I’m doing is venting, and maybe trying to let the likes of @Cheasty know he’s not the only lad suffering.

Put on the Tippcast podder and you’d be asleep in a few minutes mate.

If you were to get 7 good hours sleep without waking up - you’d feel an awful lot better.

Nothing of value i can really add. Make yourself go Sunday. Until then watch the last 10 minutes of the Limerick v Tipp replay from 07 on repeat .

Are you doing any counselling at the minute?

Do you need a career change or find a hobby that gives you meaning?

I recommend a book on here before that if you haven’t read, go ahead and do so… It’s on audio books also.

When you say “to get through it”, is it a heightened level of anxiety that you are experiencing during this? Is this anxiety based on a fear of not being able to perform or intrusive thoughts about a bad outcome?

I don’t know. I wasn’t nervous about it. Just couldn’t concentrate

Mind yourself chief. Go for a good paced walk and listen to some music or a podder of interest. You’ll feel the better for it.

Well lack of sleep will do that to a man but it sounds like there is more than that at play.

I don’t know your circumstances regarding dependants or responsibilities but if you have a window of opportunity to drop tools and change things up then do it while you can.

I’m sure you could get a career break if you requested it @Batigol. Safety net of a job to come back to, if you decide you want to. Take a sick day tomorrow if you need it, no one can function on zero sleep. Maybe visit the doc. Mind yourself.

I’ve being doing meditation the last month. It helps a ton. Just saying.

@Batigol you seem an alright sort. I know there’s a poster or two you know in real life so hopefully they can offer support. Nothing else to add but to recognise your pain is real and I’d imagine what you have witnessed in your job the last few years has exasperated that. Rooting for you pal.

PS fuck Limerick

Sunday will be raw, visceral. Bad things will be said about referees, justified things will be said about Tipp folk. Traffic will be let go. All of this will be good for the soul. Monday and Tuesday will be the struggle.

The job sounds like torture mate and your job is most of your life really. I would think about aggressively looking for a change there.

Limerick are going to batter Tipp on Sunday so look forward to that
