The Dodger is in trouble

I’d say that’s right. Different times now. Your man was one of the first to be convicted of that kind of abuse.

Was there more or less no one actually convicted of child abuse in 60s 70s 80s? There was constant rumours about Christian brothers etc in the 80s but none convicted until recently enough. Incredible really that everyone ‘knew’ but nothing was done

Noel Skehan was the captain in 1972.
Bennettsbridge won the county senior in 1971.

I’d say that is the case. Pillars of society releasing a bit of stress abusing street urchins.

Think he was caretaker in the school there.

They’d be very clannish in Comer as coal mining communities typically are.

“He was honoured last year at a local GAA supporters’ ceremony where he was described as a ``gentleman on and off the field’', although Croke Park decided not to honour him at last year’s All-Ireland hurling final.”

A great little country all the same.

On the one hand, he sexually assaults little children, on the other he’s good at hurling.

It was really only in the 1990’s that those cases started going to court. The reaction of a certain cohort of the local population in Castlecomer would possibly have been similar in many small towns and villages up and down the country back then, if it was one of their own local GAA superstars in the dock.

People were slow to believe what was coming out back then. I dare say, if that trial was only playing out now, nearly 30 years on, there wouldn’t be a sinner speaking up for him.

It’s not that long since a Parish lined up to shake the hand of a convicted rapist in front of the victim.

Could well be the reason why he left the squad in 97 or that.

That was the case in Kerry? When was that?

Sexual assault of adult women you’ll still have a large cohort backing the fella. Not with kids though.

Ah that’s grand so.
Ballymaloe goes on unabated.

why only away matches? how would be pull it off if he playing himself?

How many times did he retire?

Would the Gardai in Blackrock in 2012 have contained any prominent GAA heads?

And he’s the real-life brother of the aforementioned satirical character from Norwich.

It appears that DJ experienced symptoms of IBS, which tended to worsen in the lead-up to matches, often necessitating a return to the dressing room while the team was warming up… The fact that these incidents occurred exclusively during away games has led to speculation that the pattern may have been intended to broaden the scope of suspicion.
