The two lads were up in arms when he delivered it. He drove me mad but he was just a stone cold broadcasting legend. ‘dont it always seem to go that you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone.’

Every time this thread is bumped I’m expecting to hear that he croaked.

The more I look back on Dunphy now I see a poisonous little fucker with absolutely no substance.

I think he let his emotions get the better of him a lot.

Its fair to say that a large part of the cocaine problem in Ireland is down to his normalising of it.

He was very entertaining. But he needed Bill. Bill was such a brilliant broadcaster - he had a great sense of timing.

He doesn’t have any remorse for some of his comments.

All he was interested in was theatrics and his ego ultimately.

Bill was a massive cunt by all accounts.

But that’s what we the viewer wanted also…

I think Roy Keane might be the current day version. Entertainment over depth.

Heard that a few times over the years

Dunphy had a bit more substance to him than Keane.

If you are in the public eye there’ll always be one lad who met you on a bad day.

Keane’s metamorphosis into a Panto Dame is unfortunate.

Every day was a bad day with Bill.
