The Electric Vehicle Thread

I was over in the mainland and my friend had a GTX version of the ID7 - it has some amount of gadgets. The massage seats are serious.

Yeah, there’s no traditional buttons, everything is on a screen, I haven’t a notion yet on how it works, took it for a spin and its straight forward to drive, all I need is drive, reverse and auto hold, you can’t go wrong

Total nonsense, The fastest chargeingev on the market can only take 235kw

Did you Google that on your 7310i?

My sources in California tell me Tesla is pivoting from EVs to robotics.

Not quite yet, infrastructure still catching up, battery technology changing fast. Let the early adopters take the hit on the depreciation and see where things sit in 2028 maybe or at least until the hole falls out of my ould Mondeo.

Adrian Weckler has had a bad run of it. Thats not his first hit piece on evs. I’m not sure really tho if his piece is as much to do with bad service from VW rather than another whinge at evs.

Ive had an ev now for over 3 years. I had to wait on my first public charge there about 2 weeks ago, waited about 10 mins. Bar that, ive never had a wait or a nightmare story. Would rarley use public charging anyway and what now helps is most hotels will have chargers now so when you do go somewhere a distance away an overnight charge is usually handy enough to get.

Public charging is improving but certainly has a bit to go yet.

The depreciation thing is also well overstated. Its no more than ICE cars now for the most part. There is a decent second hand market now and the scare stories routinely put out are becoming fewer. Having a better range of evs helps, but again, this needs to keep progressing for the likes of affordable 7 seaters and also smaller more affordable cars with decent range.
