He was hired to improve Liverpool over the long term. There were signs of progress last season through the big games they won and he is building on that this season. If he was hired with the short term goal of winning the league last season then of course he did a bad job but he wasn’t

No he wasn’t.
He was hired as a couple of top 7 finishes outside the top 4 mixed the odd sustained title challenge was deemed not good enough for Liverpool under the previous manager. Then they went out and hired a guy with a big reputation and paid him a salary of double the manager because top 4 finishes and title challenges are the prerequisite.
Liverpool hardly had to pay Rodgers off a big compensation sum so they could hire another guy on twice the salary who can’t surpass his achievements.

So since the Liverpool game back in August, Spurs have gone from having no bench and nothing in depth to having the best squad in the league.

You passed judgement on it back in August. Spurs had a weak bench and nothing in depth. The only addition since that Liverpool game is Moussa Sissoko. Why the need for a discussion?

As I’ve said previously, I don’t see much between all the big sides in terms of squad depth/quality. I did criticise Pocchetino for how he has restricted the creative talents of players like Lamela and Eriksen though.
