The Fine Gael - A Sovereign Nation Once Again

Don’t see it - while it is an issue that could materially affect how FG do in an election - because it’s tabloid by nature and very bad in terms of optics - it’s not an issue that a government will be brought down over

Bailey and Madigan are definitely their fathers’ daughters

The apples didn’t fall far from the tree

might be reported by tabloids but it cuts to the heart of why businesses are shutting down and the insurance industry. this story still has legs and FF will be watching for a plausibly deniable reason to drag down this govt.

FF got only 16% in the European votes and only marginally improved their local vote. It’d be a big gamble to go to the polls. Especially as they’d have to spend the first week of the campaign countering the framing of them being the ones to pull down the government when people are fatigued from this election season.

It’ll be less mixed now.

and martin is off

Apparently John Bailey is too ill to be carry out his duties as a councillor but stood for this election anyway and won

When his daughter loses her Dail seat she’ll have her father’s council seat as a fall back

All angles covered

Not an entirely unfair point.

This is a big thing

History suggests those who force needless elections don’t fare well

Theresa May obviously, but in Ireland you have to go back to '89 and '92 - Haughey thought he’d get an overall majority in '89 and lost seats - and Fianna Fail’s performance in '92 was historically bad for them at that time - their coalition partners the PDs lost over half of their seats

Martin knows the election is coming soon enough anyway, probably next February, so I’d say he’ll be content to hold tight until then

They were so enlightened by the FAS input to the shuttle program that they scrapped it shortly afterwards

Are there not quite a few bi-elections due which may force an election soon?

The Baileys will always have some supporters amongst the vile Cuala community.

Which TDs are heading to Europe?

Franny Fitz
Daly
Wallace
Kelleher

That’s it I think

The current supply and confidence agreement encompasses 100 TDs

Even there was a swing away from FG and FF in them it wouldn’t matter a jot

Oi! Crokes cunt

Fair enough - I only half heard something about bi-elections on Yeats the other day.

Pride weekend would be a good time to hold them

From a guy who got his wife to cash dodgy cheques from a property developer…

The PDs went from 6 to 10 seats in the 92 election FF post about 10 IIRC
