One. 1953. Had the bones of the 1957 -1963 county senior team on it. The photo of the team was up in the canteen in the school as long as I was there.
By the sixties fellas used to leave school in their droves after the inter to work in the Glass or the Industrial estate so there was slim pickings left in the school and those that were left were largely swots more likely to play in the Silver Band than the hurling team.
It’s a Deis school now with all of the attendant issues that inner city Deis schools have nationwide.

It was needed. Seats were getting very faded. That side of the ground sees way more of the weather as well, with the wind generally coming from the south west.

Twas fierce bad gotten. I’d reason to be walking around of a midweek over the past year or two and it would almost shame you how bad it was. Badly needed but we had to wait until Costello departed and Croke Park could deflect a small few crumbs away from Dublin GAA first before it could get underway.
A “GAA Cluster Facility” sounds like a malevolent entity that haunts @Little_Lord_Fauntleroy’s worst nightmares.
I always admired the optimism of the people who named Tuam Stadium.

The stand in Walsh Park was of a similar hay shed nature but it was gone by the late 1980s early 90s
I see that the mount sion clubhouse is a finer construction than Walsh park.
What was the money spent on?
