Actually it does. If you are east of the river, out of rush hour* an hour give or take.
If you have to get through the bodkin junction add half an hour. At least.
I still would look to live in or around town.
It actually would be a handy cycle to work.
If you are leaving from mervue way, Shannon you’d do comfortably in an hour. Knock would take a little longer but they are both handy enough.
Watch out for speed vans on the Shannon road especially. There is a spot heading away from Galway just before you get to gort and the motorway, where the speed limit drops suddenly to 50 iirc. The cops are Hoors for waiting right at the roundabout at the motorway junction nabbing easy targets.
*rush hour is 730-915 am and 345-630 pm.
The Galway traffic, due to the geography and the wealthy nimbys blocking the western city bypass, is truly awful, centred around the bodkin junction, but by no means exclusively.
Galwegians seem to feel that walking is for those who have failed at life.
I would add that traffic can be highly unpredictable. Clarinbridge can back up for half an hour when the road is in any way busy so I’d always be cautious. If its early morning or late night it’s well under an hour. Once you get to gort, it’s motorway all the way. Also be careful of speed vans and gards as you get off the motorway and run down to the airport. They love it there too the fuckers.
