Sky took major playoff games off FTA.
Thatâs a fact.
I donât give a shit about how you rank some games from the weekend.
There are now less FTA games since Sky came on board. You asked what was lost, I gave you the details.

For anyone brainwashed by the EPL
Small beans and they after selling a field for 100m
Which again misses the point.
A not for profit, amateur organisation.
500k is less than 1% of the GGAâs turnover.
The GGA got on just fine without Sky Sports money. Their excuse was that it wasnât for money and was to grow the game. Their President mentioned Australia in front of the Oireactas. The lackluster ratings show this to be a nonsense.
GAA doesnât have play-off games since they started counting scoring difference in the league
A three way play-off between Donegal, Down and Kerry in 1994 is one of the last if not the last of these type of games that occurred
I donât recall any of these play-off games ever being televised
Major play off games? It was fucking Meath and Donegal.
The only âplay offâ game of note this weekend was Kerry and Mayo. In hurling it was Cork and Kilkenny. RTE had both. Ireland is a small country. If itâs not on tv people can get off their arses and go to it or listen to it on the radio. There might be a handful of people put out by Sky getting a few games but the important games are on RTE.
I forgot about the relegation play-offs in the hurling league
Clare v Cork in 2013 was a notable one
I donât recall any of them being on Sky
Anyway theyâve now been abolished I think
Major games have been taken off FTA.
You donât seem to value All Ireland QFs or whatever they are calling them these days.
Those are the facts.
The ratings I posted earlier tell their own story.
TV3 had hundreds of thousands for an exclusive Q Final. Sky?
Clare and Wexford had a championship relegation play off back in 2009. Clare won comfortably from what I remember but Wexford were never actually relegated out of the Liam McCarthy
Poor enough

6 nations & Europa league are the only Irish sports events that would have any value
The Horse Show is box office
Used to love watching it as a kidâŠinsert twee story about playing after watching it pretending to be Capt Gerry MullinsâŠ
Those dastardly Brits had Nick Skelton and the Whitaker brothers. Ludger Beerbaum another notable foe
I had a strong dislike of Nick Skelton
Harvey Smith and David Broome
Rubby isnt a sport you prick.
That one with the wall that got higher and higher at the end was a great bit of drama
The Puissance
